Turned out so great! Hard wood ought to be a lot more durable , but I imagine carving it was a lot different. So nice of Pete to set you up and wood turn it for you, too. Looks like a really fun project.👍😊✨💖

I'm no expert but the wood may be from the Hickory species judging by the small block you showed and it's one of the hardest wood's, so correct me if I'm wrong. Great coffee mug Jordy ! I would have used butcher's block finish with it though but it's your call my friend.n👍👍
@@peteblairakathemadscientist I think it mostly depends if it's just sapwood or heartwood that sometimes makes it hard to identify but if it's "quartersawn" then you get a bit of both like in the block that Jordy show's in the video? I love Laburnum and Yew for that particular reason. 😊

Thanks rick, i did think about "Food safe" oil but .
It was sugested i use epoxy ( a few coats) so the wood wont crack when hot coffee goes in
