Just “super expensive” 😆
Not super duper pooper expensive
HIIIII BROOO
IM A BIG FAN!!!!
@@nedrudt21I literally lol'd when he said that
The DPE for my private pilot certificate owns one of these, and let me climb around in it after my exam. He told me it was the hardest plane to fly he’d ever been in. So much so that he called the P-51 a trainer for the T-6.
Does that DPE’s name happen to be Larry?
@@walnut_trail_farm No, his name is Allen.
@@davidclaiborne5280 my DPE (Larry) in North Carolina flew one also
Wow, that's interesting
Absolutely awesome video! I went for a flight in one of these a few months ago and it was easily my favourite flight I've ever done. Sitting behind a 600HP radial engine, with canopy open on takeoff, is an experience I'll never forget.
Good one! My dad had a friend that had a T6 and a Cub in the same hangar when I was a little kid, it was always fun when we would go there and he'd let me sit in it while they would hangout and chat. ☺️ Ever considered doing a Piper Aerostar video? Particularly for one of the turbo/pressurized ones?
Flying them only a few years ago the costs were pretty high; now even higher. $400/hour in fuel canadian we ballparked 2x fuel costs for maintenance and were pretty close.
I won a 40 minute ride in a T-6 a month ago at our local air museum! Super fun and amazing as we circled over Colorado Springs! Never has 40 minutes ever gone by so fast though.😔
Lots of T-6 owners are mechanics or at least do a lot of wrenching themselves and really enjoy it as the plane is an immersive ownership experience. This keeps the cost down somewhat, as my brother spends about the same to own his T-6 as I spend on my TR-182. Difference is that he gets more offers to pay for gas from riders!
Well shoot. Now we just need the T-28 to compliment the warbird training set. J3, T6 & T28
PT-17, PT-19, Beech 18… all used as trainers too.
On the subject of WW2 planes, I’m sure a large portion of the subs are waiting on a P-51 video. Also hoping for a C-47/DC3 or PBY Catalina breakdown.
love the sound of the propeller breaking the sound barrier, could you make a video on the de Havilland Tiger Moth?
I very much enjoy your gentle humor!
this channel is so good, i like before the video even starts
Thanks! been wanting this video!
Love your videos
These videos are pretty great as some one who is looking into getting either a bear hawk or a maul in the next few years but have never owned a plane before it really puts things into perspective about the little details and operating costs that one might either over look or not think about entirely
Loved it! What about a video on a Stearman?
Love your videos!
Speaking of a RV-8… maybe do a video on one of those!!!
Thanks!
Thanks Jon once again. Very much appreciated 👍
I love hearing the history behind the names of the planes!
Very Good!
As a teen I did work experience at a company that restored Harvards at Thruxton. Happy days!
Nice awesoem video! There is a local airport with one of these! We visit every year for the flyin breakfast . I met the pilot last year and hopeing I can catch a ride in it some time! Maybe one day I can own her!
I’ll be a passenger in one next August courtesy of my sons. Can’t wait!
you should do a T28 Trojan!! father had one for years and it was amazing.
Interesting to see some numbers from a different country. We run off 120 litres per hour and that works out to be roughly $240 USD an hour on fuel alone. They sure can be a bit more economic when flying somewhere in a cruise condition but the T6 is not an aeroplane for traveling places so very rarely done. We spend around $15k USD a year on maintenance including the annual
1:00 the T-6 I have flown cruised at 150 knots.. at least that’s what I remember..
Do the velocity. I know the info is fairly easy to find but I want to see you do a video on it.
Yesss
The company I flew for purchased 7 of the Harvards from the RCAF in 1961 for cloud seeding (hail-suppression, Calgary AB). Each AT6 came with a spare engine.
In 1968 the cloud seeding contract went to a T33 then a Lear24, so all 7 AT6’s went up for sale for $3K each, (yes, $3000). To make the sale attractive the company also threw in the spare engine for each harvard. Most of them went to the USA for Reno racing and Air Shows.
The 7 years I had on them were eventfully with lots of stories to tell.
Why did we use Harvards? At the time it was the only aircraft that could withstand the extreme turbulence associated with CB’s (cumulonimbus cloud). Our intent was to get as close to a building CU+ into a CB, find an updraft and release silver-iodide to be carried higher into the cloud by the turbulent rising air.

Very interesting. Thanks for sharing
Do the seabear!
Dream plane
Can't wait to see a piaggio Avanti 👉👈
$150 an hour for fuel? Only ~30GPH? For some reason… I expected a lot higher.
Me too!
My wife got me a "WW2 experience" flight in one as a birthday present years ago!!
T-28 Trojan next!!!
What's the upper limit on the size and/or price of plane that you'd consider to do?
Single pilot
So funny lol. From t6 texan. Two (Ala Jon Stewart) to support expensive to super duper pooper scooper lmao I can't! Caint!
“Super duper pooper scooper” is my new text tone.
Named the Wirraway in Australian RAAF, in WWII it did serve as a fighter when Darwin was bombed in 1942. None of the RAAF Wirraways were serviceable at the time of the first raid and it is unlikely they would have fared well against the IJN combat veterans in their Mitsubishi AM6 Zero fighters.
I kinda want to see yak 52 now...
@TheRealJimmysWorld this might be good info for you!🤣🤣
Stand by for real world data :)
How good go the kiwis
Airplanes make me wish i wasn't poor
SyberJet SJ30i. With a name like that, the video almost writes itself
PW R-1340 powered.
SIX HUNDRED horsepower and only $150 of fuel an hour? Is that the cruise at 20%?
The DHC 2 uses a 450hp P&W Wasp. It burns around 24g. It's just a really efficient 100 year old engine I guess
I can't afford any of these aeroplanes, yet here I am..
Everyone wants to won a T-6.
Super pooper scooper expensive ;-) ...
🤣🤣🤣
'
oh no...
stop watch at 110...
not important show currencys in this video
I show the currency. Just require more patience than a flea
Did he say "SND" instead of "SNJ"? I'm highly triggered as I am a total T-6 Texan fan.
