stairway to heaven is an easy way to start with the music of this holly era.
you should have a try at "deep purple", "jethro tull", "cream", "jimi hendrix", "chicago transit authority", and of course "the who" on stage.
nowadays, the uglies who rules this poor world have decided that good music shouldn't be available for ordinary people; during the 60-70's this rule was not yet.

We had nothing against Zepp, but we spent our limited funds on others. We still heard plenty of Zepp and had no issue with it. Of course, now I have had CDs of Zepp I-IV for many years, and will likely aquire PG, just 'cuz I need it in my collection.

Love Led Zeppelin. So good to see younger generations listening to the great music I was lucky to grow up on. Robert Plant( the singer) was like 19 when they started. Since you enjoy this band I think you would enjoy Greta Van Fleet. They are 3 brothers(singer, drums and guitar) and another guy and they're around your age. The singer sounds amazingly like Robert Plant. First time my son showed me them I could have sworn it was Led Zeppelin.

Led Zeppelin is something that could explode onto the scene in 2020, &, send a shockwave amongst teens, &, 20s, age people , to a degree equal to anyone out there. Obviously they wouldn't sell 400 million records . And, play to 1 billion people live, in 10 years, but, they still would be the top Rock band alive. LOL "Reminds you of Aerosmiths song Dream On." You have that reversed. You should have said Dream On reminds you of Stairway to Heaven. One. Stairway came out before Dream On. Two. Aerosmith was clearly copying the format of Stairway when they made Dream on. Three. Led Zeppelin are considered the Goats of hard rock and most bands after them, Aerosmith being a perfect example, tried to copy them in many ways. Four. This song came out in 1971. This concert was filmed in 1973 and to this day Stairway is still often voted the best rock song ever. Aerosmith is a fine band but Led Zeppelin is their daddies.

I'm glad you discovered them!! Do seek out more classic groups and tunes like Led Zeppelin...and explore more of Zeppelin.
These were the days of true virtuoso musicians playing their own instruments, composing their own music, and could not only play it LIVE without backing tape loops, no auto tune and really didn't depend on stage spectacle, dancers or whatever.....just played great songs people enjoyed jamming to.
A typical Led Zeppelin Concert would run from 2.5 - 3 hours....they not only played the music, but would often go off on long improvisations that were just mesmerizing.....
So, find groups today, I know there are some out there...that play their instruments, and don't depend on computer autotune, or having to use tricks like quantizing to keep them in time, etc.....look for groups that FEEL the music...that put soul into it.
There's a reason groups like Zeppelin are still selling records and are played today....there's soul in that music.
Glad you found them and welcome to a larger world.

Thanks for pulling the Led out. Subscribed! Singer and plays harmonica, tambourine - Robert Plant. Arguably one of the top lead rock/rock-blues vocalists in history. Jimmy Page - Lead guitarist and brought the band together. Arguably one of the top three guitarists in rock history. John Bonham- (The Beast) Drummer: Used to play in black jazz clubs & was one of the first in rock to hit a triple beat to the average of one beat (check out MOBY DICK

John Paul Jones Base Player, Mandolin, organ, multiple instrumental quiet genius. Miraculously- Put all four together & you have the nightly Led Zep! Hands down, the array of music these guys created = Best Rock band in history! So many great songs of theirs are mentioned in the other comments but one of my favorite is Kashmir!

You should enjoy exploring Led Zeppelin, but another band and song from the same era is "Whipping Post" by the Allman Brothers. The studio version is good, but the live from the Fillmore East is amazing.

hard to believe you've never heard robert plant's vocals before. like everyone else in this band, he was pretty much the best at doing what he did. if you decide to listen to more of their work, don't miss "kashmir," "when the levy breaks," "immigrant song," "gallow's pole," and, what the hell, just put a discography up on the wall and throw darts at it. any song you hit will be great.

if you ever have the urge to listen to what critics and audiences alike have pretty much dubbed the greatest drum solo of all time, listen to led zeppelin's "moby dick," performed at madison square garden in 1973. like robert plant in vocals, john bonham was the GOAT.

don't let the old heads in this comment section bother you. old people are always trying to say "my music is better" this music is as produced as pop music

That is Jimmy Page. Best guitar ever, God of Rock and Roll. Led Zep wrote a book on it. Listen to Heartbreaker at Earls Court

You need to watch Lynyrd Skynyrd "Free Bird" live at the Oakland Coliseum in '77. Free Bird and Stairway to Heaven are the two greatest songs ever. My opinion.

You have witnessed rock legends. Check out the Led Zeppelin You Tube site and look for these iconic songs: Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog. The lead guitar is Jimmy Page, Vocal is Robert Plant, Drums is Jon Bonham and on bass we have John Paul Jones. I don't work for them but just love Led Zeppelin for a very long time now as I am 65. Peace. 💖

We folks in our 60s and 70s were teenagers and a little above, when the best Rock music was being played and listened to. There isn't, and will never be another "Classic Rock" era. Today's youth have no idea what real music is. Not trying to be a jerk, but what passes for good music these days, is a freaking joke. AS you move forward in your Classic Rock" journey, you'll see what we already know. Thanks Bro.
