I have to say this is EXACTLY what I needed to hear/watch today. I just attended your SF webinar with a few other panelists and will have to continue watching more of your vids here to get a few laughs & insightful suggestions.
Thx Sue!!
You are a true leader David!! Thanks for the advice and inspiration.
Thank you Shashi!!
Great advice. Keep up the great videos! Thank you!
David.. You are the Anthony Robbins of the Salesforce world... Thanks a lot for the inspiration.
Thanks lol great compliment!!
Hey David,
Great video with some great stories!
Your content is amazing and I've gotten a ton out of your Apex Academy courses.
Keep on keeping on!
Thank you Erik!!!
Thank you for taking the time to share all the insights from your life, really helpful!
Cheers!
Thank you so much ❤️ David
David - this was great! Am glad that you realized that management is not for you and for having the courage to follow your heart and your instincts. I have been in IT my whole career (and that is a LOOONG time), and the idea of being a manager was never appealing to me.
You have made an impact on many lives with your channel and your courses - what could be better than that? If I hadn't seen the YT commercial you did many years ago for Mike Wheeler's Salesforce Admin Udemy class, I never know of the opportunities that self-study and certifications offer.
Keep the inspiration coming - your legions of fans love it!!!
Thank you 😭😭😭
Yea "You have made an impact on many lives with your channel and your courses" This is 100% correct.
😭😭😭
David, you speak from heart. Both good and bad but everything so brutally honest. Thanks for your video it helped me to think about my career.
Thank you!!!
I think every single person watching can relate. IT industry or not. It takes a big man to come clean on failure and losing all ego. You have achieved this Master Liu. Well done!
Cheers PW!
Great content. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you!
Thanks for your sharing. This is an absolutely good inspiration.
Thanks!!

Thanks!!
Respect to your hard work, motivation , dedication & persistency man.
2:58 see you Sayonara good bye .
Thank you!
Thank you David for your heart/volleyball touching story .. 😊
😘
Touching story? Ask that poor little boy whose stroller exploded along with that blow on his face, was more than a touch imo😂😂😂😂
Jokes aside, I truly admire David's honesty. He's the man!!! Thank you for the wonderful videos.
Lmao
Actually yesterday I could not go to the interview call due to some problem with my laptop hardware so I was very sad as the call was fired but suddenly I saw this video and its blew my mind thinking how your good failures will come in good opportunity , Relieved my depressed mood from the last two days. What a coincidence. Thank you for always inspiring us.
😁😁😁
Thanks David! Got my Sales Cloud exam coming up so this may be timely advice, haha!
Ha ha ha good luck!
@@dvdkliu Thanks again. Also, I got to thinking that my response was maybe a bit facetious and I'm sorry for that. To be clear I do sincerely appreciate this message. It helps me get over the fear of even trying because of the reminder that there is opportunity on the other side no matter the outcome.
@@justinbolner2918 ha ha ha didn't feel that way at all I know you've been chill from your prev comments. Thanks for mentioning it though!
David you are such a fabulous person on the planet 🌎. You are such an inspiration 😊. I am actually out of words to praise more about you
Thank you Raman 😁😁😁
Why I'm I the only one not finding the whole ball/stroller connection funny? My stomach hurts just by the story telling. HILARIOUS. Everything else is a good lesson.
Thank you yes that was a golden moment where is the love!!!! LOL
Great advice David. I think everyone needs to hear this kind of thing in 2020 since so many people have lost jobs, etc. I was actually sitting here cringing when you told the story about accidentally hitting the kid with the volleyball! 🙈🙈
😂😂😂 thank you Jonathan!
Thanks for sharing David, you are the best. I was on the verge of tears listening to you especially the second example. I am so scared of failing that I try to prevent it by not putting myself out there. It's something I have struggled with for years. I know I have the potential to do so much more but feel paralyzed by fear. Maybe this is a sign to start to face my fear of failure.
Thanks Vevienne and yes hope this can help you look at failure differently!!
Your great thank you.
Thank youu
This guy is genuine.
Thanks lol
David, you are so inspiring. How did you balance the emotions of (quitting) losing the position vs waiting for something better? I mean were you unhappy for a while when you did that?
Still unhappy about it to be honest. I still wonder if I should give it another try. The biggest thing though is I look at all the managers in my org and I don't envy their job one bit. Not even for 3x my pay. And that to me is a sign it's not for me. In terms of making $$ I believe individual contributors have opportunities to make more money than managers, esp with side gigs
@@dvdkliu "I still wonder if I should give it another try": don't... You were driven by your gut-feeling, just acknowledge the idea and focus on moving on... Nice video as usual and thanks for sharing.
Thanks man yea I gotta let go
Thanks you for sharing - especially about time when it was hard, or times when it hurt. I appreciate the encouragement... and the call to change perspectives, from failure to opportunity. Please pray I will do the same .- as it is easy to lose focus and perspective. Thanks, Jarrell
You got this Jarrell I believe!
Thanks for sharing David! I wouldn't call them failures, i'll call them painful life experiences :) 1st one was clearly an accident, assuming you had zero malicious intent on hitting a child. 2nd you gave management a try and you find out you didn't like it, which is completely fine. It would be a failure if you had actually stay on even longer :P
Thx!!
Great video David! You're not a people person? You seem pretty damn good at relating to and inspiring people, though!
Thanks 🤣
Hi David... its really encouraging to hear you and you career path.
I am preparing for Admin cert. Soon after I would like to start with PD1. How can I get developer's training from you?
I've got a whole course on bit.ly/go-apex !
Awesome story and honesty! Just curious, why did you choose to educate about Salesforce?
That was more luck than anything. I found out after I started it that it was hot and I just stuck to it
Need help... My TrailHead is not working since morning... just showing "FORBIDDEN".

Any idea whats this error for?
Sorry!

I have a lot of videos on this, see my channel!
Thank God I’m not the only one who hates being a manager!! And good to know you can still be successful without taking that path.
😁😁😁😁
For what is worth, I would love to have a manager like you.
Thank you lol makes me feel good
lmfaoooo.....ahaha this was great👍. I did something similar with ⚽️!
can we edit adults Gene's?
Today I sent an embarrassing email to the CEO. You made me feel so much better 😂 thank yoy
LOL
Funny coincidence: I was asked today by my manager about my future career planning and gave me two choices: Independent contractor or management role. They told me that they can help me plan a career path where if I choose management then I would first be given mentorship which would enhance my skills and then later may be provided a team to lead.
What I did next is still making me baffled. I started saying that I gravitate towards IC role, but then I moved my discussion towards the fact that I *can* take a management role. But deep down inside I think I know the introvert I am. I only changed my preference since I thought maybe I would get a good promotion and a good raise if I choose people leadership.
I think I should correct my mistake tomorrow by coming out and speaking the truth. Or should I? Maybe I can give management a chance? I really am not sure.
You're right it's like the exact situation I went through. I learned a lot about myself from trying the management path that I would've never learned otherwise, so I don't regret it. If I could go back in time I'd probably still try the manager route
@@dvdkliu. Yes as much as I would love to be an independent contractor (probably because that sounds cooler in my head), I wouldn't know if I have the skills of leadership if I don't give it a shot.
And even if I fail, I wouldn't regret since its not like a one way street, as you proved!
bring that rafa poster back mate !!
Gimme one more French Open Rafa I promise I will never ask for another slam!!!!!!! Gotta include that poster in next vid for good luck!!!!
