    Well I've heard that the standard PCV system can leak boost when boost levels are increased, and being made of plastic, they can just wear out over time, so I've ordered the FTP PCV V2 Kit off Ebay,
    www.ebay.com/i...
    and decided to try and test it with my tire inflator, I brought a cheap replacement also, so I tested all 3, including the original one off the engine.
    I did have to put on some thread tape on the new FTP PCV but I now know it can hold 30psi of pressure and not leak.
    It's the first video like this that I've done and I may have made some mistakes, but I hope this helps!
    Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for making that video. it took me forever to find any video on the FTP PCV valve. bonus that you even show testing it. Great that it held up to 40PSI. that's awesome.
    Fun fact: the FTP PCV valve is technically a Chinese part too. It's made in Taiwan.

      Thanks heaps for finding me too, that's cool, I'm very glad you like my video!
      The PCV's still working with no problems years later now also.
      Taiwan makes some nice products so that's alright!

    Hi man! Good test thanks. I'll share my exprience with FTP PCV.
    After FTP install I noticed smoking sometimes while driving, And oil consumption become 1 litre per 700-800km. I compared FTP to stock valve, I tested it with slow flow (just blow by mouth), not on peak pressure, and FTP was too stiff, so I disassembled FTP, and remove one rubber ring inside, tested again - also too stiff, next step I cut part of the spring inside, and then I got the same action as the stock one. And after this procedure any smoke or Oil consumption has gone.

      @ScubaMade  Před 3 lety

      Oh that's abit different from my experience, I don't lose any oil and I drive the car pretty hard, but thanks for letting me know that, if I ever get that problem I'll look into cutting the spring down abit!

    You would only have to put thread sealant on if you were doing this demonstration. Since those threads are above the inner pin o-ring and outer middle it really doesn’t matter being that the pressurized air from the intake would still remain in the same chamber.

    so with this pcv, no need to have a catch can right? because the pressure control the blowby which goes back to the intake

    • @ScubaMade
      @ScubaMade  Před 3 lety

      I'm not 100% sure how it all works yet, but I do believe I need to take the valve cover off and plug up the 6 holes in the head on the intake side, I'm not exactly sure what else I'll need to do for that to work but for now I'm not focusing on that, I do want to take the intake manifold off and clean the intake ports sometime soon though!

    • @Tewty11
      @Tewty11 Před rokem

      @@ScubaMade you should only plug the holes in the head, IF your fitting an external PCV valve, with say, a M18 Valve cover. with the OEM cover, and an external pcv/catch can setup, ie, RB external pcv + Mishimoto can, you still even then, dont need to plug the holes. since the RB kit, bypasses/blocks the flow of air from the cover, to the holes. and sends it all through the catch can.
      I run that exact setup and its fine. I have the high + low side catch cans, and they do collect alot of oil/water. Lowside collects maybe 3 times the rate of the high side.
      if your using the OEM style PCV valve, you need to have somewhere for the air pressure to go, and it has to go into the inlets. These oem style valves, dont do anything towards reducing the oil buildup on the inlets.

    • @ScubaMade
      @ScubaMade  Před rokem

      Yeah that’s good to know and thanks for clarifying that! I have learned quite a bit since making this video and I don’t think I’ll ever plug up those holes in the head.

    • @simcaclub
      @simcaclub Před 3 lety

      I think it has to close when the back pressure of the turbos are high, otherwise the pressure in the crankcase is getting to high and you will blow the seals in your engine. That will happens if the valve is leaking.

      I don’t know if the engine light will show up, it will just leak oil, the low oil warning could come on but you’d have to loose a lot of oil.
      I hadn’t noticed any cracks in mine so I haven’t needed to change it yet, I do have an old video where I change the valve cover on my n52 engine, it’s pretty different though haha!
