    Thank you so much fir sharing this. I started wearing wigs last year. I love to swim but I don't like wearing a swim cap. But I did because I thought it was my only option. I took my kids to the water park this weekend and I wore my wig. I used my wig grip and bobby pins. I wore one of my short wigs that was beginning to fray some. I wore it a lit and I still throw it on when I need to go out quick fir something outside. I went under water and my wig stayed on. Halajulah!!!

    What a fabulous and informative video! Thanks for sharing! How do you remove your wig without damaging the lace? Your skin is lovely.

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety +2

      That is a great question!! Removing glue from lace is not super fun 😂 I will say that after a while swimming, the glue lace does start to lift. So, if you're swimming it will be easy to remove. In just daily wear, I put some conditioner on the hairline and let it sit there for about 10 minutes - and then it usually softens enough to get it off my hair. If not, then I reapply conditioner or vaseline and let it sit again for a few more minutes. It's a little time consuming but you have to be VERY careful to not rip out your hairline or damage the lace! Once it is off, I wash the lace gently with wig safe shampoo to remove glue and makeup.

    how does your wig look after being in the water as in when you get out to sit by the pool and socialize. do you have to immediately go inside and put a different wig on ?? Thanks for the videos I've been a subscriber for a while and ever once in a while I go back and view, as I am a very new wig wearer getting used to this. Summer so hot in Texas !!

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety +1

      So the fibers will dry relatively quickly and they’ll stay pretty styled. You don’t need to rush in and change wigs, it’s actually pretty cool when your hair dries and is wavy still etc. but- the cap stays wet for what feels like forever. It might dry faster in the sun cap facing up vs on your head, but if you don’t mind a wet cap for a while it will be fine. It’s really more your comfort. On the outside though, it’s not noticeable.

    Never considered wigs under water how cool is that! Do you blow dry and style your wigs too?

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety +1

      The beauty of synthetic hair is that the style is built into the fibers so I don’t need to! Just wash and it stays curled! My human hair ones though I definitely have to blow dry and style which makes them super versatile!

    Hi! Do you think this would work with a topper?

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety

      If you have a wefted topper and Bobby pin from the wefts to your hair it might? I’ve never tried it, but seeing as how toppers have clips if you could secure the blended hairline well it seems like it could work

    It is amazing but I have a question the pool has too much bleach can that effect or changing the wig color ?????

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety +2

      If it’s synthetic it won’t change the wig color at all- but, it can make the fibers dry or relax some of the curl. I pretty much have one wig (Parker) that I wear for pool/activities so I’m not messing up a wig in my regular rotation

  • @mumn1206
    @mumn1206 Před 3 lety +1

    Hi I'm new to wig wearing. Does the chlorine in the pool water effect the hair fibers of the wig any?

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety +1

      It does. I use the same wig (Parker) for everything active so I don’t ruin my best wigs. It will loosen the style, especially the longer it is or the more active you are, and the fibers can feel dry. But, a good deep conditioning and you can help combat the dryness a bit. I swim with synthetics because the damage to human hair wigs, color, etc would be way worse

    • @mumn1206
      @mumn1206 Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the advice. A designated wig for swimming is a great idea.

    I am just dipping my toe into wearing wigs. ( dipping my toe in....haha....I crack me up...)
    I am not a wig wearer, but I do own a few and I am still in research phase. Thank you for this tip. My only concern would be the chlorine and chemicals used to balance the Ph of the water. I wonder if they damage the fibers . I am sure rinsing out the water as soon as possible helps as it does with bio hair. But I wonder how the synthetic fibers hold up to chemicals . hmmm...

    • @TheWiggyWoman
      @TheWiggyWoman  Před 3 lety +1

      Ha! I see what you did there!! I don’t know if it is a combo of the water, or that I’m not very gentle on my wig when I’m playing with my kids ... but the fibers do seem a bit angry after going in the pool. Even after washing. I have one wig that is dedicated to high intensity activities - like the beach, pool, biking, etc. That way when I go to the pool I can still have my wig... but it’s not going to be my best wig that I wear to work :)

    • @MarianneRuffhaven
      @MarianneRuffhaven Před 3 lety

      @@TheWiggyWoman gotcha. I have a tendency to overthink things and get stuck in making decisions. I guess if I get a back-up I won't have to worry about chemicals. Oh and so far I enjoy your channel and I subscribed. Thanks for doing what you do. It really helps .

    Cute but isn't that bad on your edges to glue it to your scalp thus blocking your pores??? And tearing out your fine hairs when removing it???
