  • Hey guys!!
    I am currently doing my half year exchange at Kobe University!!
    The Shinkansai at kobe university is a 3 day event where 1st years/freshmen get to see the type of clubs and circles that are available. There were so so so many clubs and circles, it was truly amazing!! The performances were so so so great!!
    What kind of club/circle would you choose if you were on exchange?
    I'd love to hear all about it!!
    Hope you enjoyed it like I did :)

    The only thing i'm jealous about japanese schools are clubs... it looks wonderful to be able to share your passion and create things/events around it with other people at school with your same interests. At my school if you form a group to sing something to celebrate the end year they would laugh their ass off and they would tell us to do these things at home or anyways not at school... I mean, you can't even do simple things like this.

    Oh God, can't really belive that in Japan's University there are all of this kinds of clubs and activities! Here in Italy, except in the Private University (which are really really expensive), there are no types of clubs or groups to do activities like that, promoted by the University, in the video. Ahhhhhh I knew that I was born in the wrong side of the world :V

    • @leannajeb

      It's a card game that uses 100 Japanese tanka poems (hyakunin-isshu). The reader (person standing) has a set of cards that displays the full poems where as the players' (people kneeling on the tatami mats) cards only reveal the last half of each of the poems. The reader begins with an introductory poem first and then after a pause reads the beginning of one of the (possible) 100 tanka poems in the deck. It's randomly selected. What's so amazing is- to play this game you need to have memorized all 100 poems first and to win you have to also memorize the layout of the cards on the ground AND be faster than the person in front of you. You get penalties if you touch the wrong card. There's more to the faults than I really could explain. I got introduced to it when I watched Chihaya-furu. It's a great anime; I'd definitely recommend checking it out!

    !!!! That song/card game on the mat was Karuta! :D There is an anime on it called Chihayafuru (which I love). And holy crap that girl was fast! It's a super competitive memory game where you have to memorize at least a hundred poems. On the cards is the second half of the poem. The 'reader' (guy who was singing) reads the first part and your objective is to get the card with the correct second half. She got it after the first syllable! Though there were only a couple cards on the field. :)

    I would do kendo or archery. I can't handle memorizing 109 poems for karuta. While the dance clubs seem fun, I think I'll be too shy to dance it. And music clubs are a no unless they need a drummer.

  • @neropatti1504
    @neropatti1504 Před 11 lety

    The game at 5:16 is called uta karuta. They have cards where poems and parts of poems from Hyakunin Isshu are written. The guy is singing the poem and the players duty is to choose the card where the end of the poem is written as fast as possible. This traditional form where the card is hit with vigor is sometimes associated with new years.

    the club that u didnt kno is a karuta club and it is where u wear traditional japanese yukata and play a card game with about 100 cards with poems written on them, this card game is a bit difficult because u have to memorize every 100 poems and memorize the position of how the person ur versing arranged 25 poems of their choice and the position of urs aswell each card must have a 3 cm gap but for some reason many people ignore this step _ _^ but if ur planning to play please fallow this rule it must be fare because without the 3 cm gap it can be like 6 cm away and it will be too hard for ur appoint to get ur card , also both u and ur appoint can change as many cards as u want so u have to be able to memorize and forget repeatedly , u also need a good ear and hand in order to play this game a good ear is useful to knowing da next called card before its even called but dats pretty rare to have such an ear so having a good hand is more useful to most . The good hand its useful for speed because u want to get the card before the appoint and if u hav the most cards u win ,srry got excited .. :p im 14 n im interested in this stuff but really wen ur able to beat ur appoint, for me thats da best thing in da world ^^ o also they rate best by letters for example A is the best the most skilled player im C :( ! if u want to kno more please ask away XD

    I wish I could have gone to a japanese high school D: It is a lot more difficult since the times seem to be very long of a normal highschool day compared to here, but it also seems like it makes you bond with a lot of people which is great. For the one where the two people were on the floor with the cards, I saw something similar in a drama once. It's a game with business cards and you have to choose the right one. But the catch is that the third person says things about the cards in a weird way....so when it finally becomes obvious which card he's talking about, the players both kind of race to grab the card. At least that's how I interpreted it. Watching dramas without subtitles can be sketchy sometimes. lol
