(22:25) Jen, You may or may not have remembered this but (just in case) Dr. Carol Marcus is the same woman with whom Kirk had his Son, David.
Another Fun-Fact: Admiral Alexander Marcus was played by RoboCop Himself, Peter Weller!👍
And a yes please , to Star Trek Beyond
You did watch a bunch of old trek! Feels good doesn't it Jen! 🖖
@@tomhoffman4330 Did someone say ROBOCOP!
4:25 and that is Doctor Strange.
Rest in Peace Anton Yelchin. Played a fantastic Chekov. Deserved longer.
This plus a quick google is hiw I found out. What a shame, he was fantastic 😢
@@user-le6ex5rc1s not cool
Truly heart breaking.
Indeed.
Its becuase they gave him a red shirt in this movie but didn't kill him off, the universe took action. RIP
Jen, to see you sitting there in a Star Trek uniform, not only enjoying watching Trek, but deeply understanding any and all references makes my heart extremely happy! You're awesome! :)
Thanks! I am so happy I got into this Universe, loving it so much 🖖
Agreed! And I love seeing her wear the uniform while reacting too. :D
@@jenmurrayxoThere was a Caption Sulu in last original star trek movie call star trek 6 the undiscovered country
Love ya, Jen. So glad you’re getting to watch Star Trek. It’s so fun watching you getting giddy about the franchise and the characters, it reminds the rest of us how we get the same when we first discovered Trek. Glad you’re having so much fun with it. Love your uniform, you look awesome in it, very classy. 👍 Looking forward to more fun reactions 😎🖖
I concur with these opinions! Hearing you laughingly repeat the "pregnant Gorn" line with complete understanding brought an immense smile to my face! Well done, Lieutenant Jen! 😁
I have loved seeing you go from someone knowing nothing about Star Trek to becoming an ultimate fan ! You truly are deserving of The office of Star Fleet Music Officer . Simply the best , Ms. M .
There are only a few quality reactors who have been able to pull off the journey with Jen's level of class. Her journey has been enjoyable.
Like me, I consider myself an ultimate fan too. I love all Star Trek, who has seen everything all series in total amount to 900 episodes across 46 seasons and all 13 movies of Star Trek. Lol
This is the first movie I seen Benedict Cumberbach and I loved his acting in this movie. Him playing Kahn was so good. Been a fan of him since
Jen is impossibly cute when she's giddy with excitement, this was a lot of fun! 😊
Oh yeah!
I’ve come to appreciate Jen’s go-to dance move… The Swimmy- Shimmy. It works in all situations.
Bruce Greenwood (Adm. Pike) is such an underrated actor.
Bruce crushed it recently in The Fall of the House of Usher. Great screen presence.
"It's our girl" when you saw the Enterprise underwater ... you are definitively on board 😁
I love Sulu's speech to Khan.
I Love what Bones says to him right after that: "Mister Sulu, remind me never to p!$$ you off." (LOL)👍
That smile after "Damn it man, I'm a doctor, not a torpedo technician"... Priceless😍
Strange seeing Kirk and Robocop in the same room after being attacked by Dr Strange.
Not that strange after seeing Kirk work with Judge Dredd & Sylar for two movies...
Wasn't Robocop's grandfather the leader of an anti-alien extremist group called Terra Prime.
I liked seeing Wonder Woman's boyfriend and Starlord's girlfriend trying to stop Sherlock Holmes.
Great job Jen!!! Nobody even mentioned that Dr. Carole Marcuss was Kirk's woman and baby momma from Wrath of Kahn!!! So much more to know. Keep watching!!
I really enjoyed your reaction when you learned Harrison's true identity! These new films aren't my favorites, but watching with you is a treat. And your intelligent outro caused me to reconsider my opinion.
"There's Our Girl!"👍 I usually hate long waits but I'm honestly Proud of You (Jen) for going back and watching all of those Classic Episodes and Movies, especially "The Wrath of Khan" which, I know, made this an even better Experience now!!🖖
The Final Film of this Trilogy ("Star Trek Beyond") was Directed by Justin Lin, who has also done as many as 5 Sequels for the Fast-&-Furious Franchise; the first of which You've already experienced with "Tokyo Drift!" 😉👌
Stay the course my friend! NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER SURRENDER! 😊
@@e.d.2096 ...and I WON'T BACK DOWN neither! (LOL) 👋😉 Hey Eric, would have Replied sooner but I was busy having dinner.
Anyone else now seeing a mental image of Jen conducting an orchestra whenever they hear the Star Trek theme?
Me!
Jen, your reaction to this movie is exactly what I needed this arduous afternoon. I've put all my work aside to spend some time with my favorite reactress. You radiate your love of sci-fi. Such a wonderful gift. Keep up the fantastic work!
And, you would have made a wonderful Star Fleet officer. You are rocking that uniform.
Jen your enthusiasm/excitement for Star trek is priceless. 😅 Love it.
Jen is Star Trek's biggest fan! And I am hers! What a great reaction. And bonus! She can sound like a Theremin!
Did you notice that admiral Marcus, also played robocop
" come quietly
and commit treason
or there will be trouble "
Jen is killing that uniform
I'm just hoping that THAT Uniform doesn't get Her killed!🤞(LOL)
Fun fact: The original title for this outing was "The Tribble With Tiberius" but they thought it gave away too many spoilers.
😂😂😂
OMG really??
@@jenmurrayxo Jen, it's me, of course it's not true, lol. But I blame you, your vids always put me in a too-giddy mood, as per usual you just always knock it outta the park with yer enthusiasm. I hope you do the next one as well.
Nice fingerwork with Vulcan greeting in thumbnail. Also congrats on becoming fully-fledged member of the Next-Gen crew! 🥳 I suppose you could say you’re ....NEXT JEN 😃
Interesting to see someone's reaction to the Khan reveal who wasn't subject to the movie's PR campaign. It was pretty obvious to most people that Cumberbatch was playing Khan, but the filmmakers kept denying it right up until the premiere.
13:56 - Your red-shirt "uh-oh" would have been prophetic then for Anton Yelchin. 😢
22:26 - It seems that you have missed Dr. Carol Marcus as the inventor of Genesis and the mother of David (the son of Kirk) revealed in ST-][: Wrath of Khan. 😀
25:00 - The summit of this reaction video. 😮
43:40 - Yup. Sulu did become an awesome captain. Remember the last for the original cast, ST-VI: Undiscovered Country? 🥰
46:01 - Scotty as MVP? I strongly doubt any trekkie / trekker woukd ever disagree with you on that. 🖖🖖🖖
Chris Pine's best role is in D&D Honor Among Thieves (A heist -fantasy-comedy movie).
He's so funny! Jen would also love the music.
Hi Jen,
As a 63 year old Star Trek NERD I LOVE that you have embraced Star Trek and I hope it brings you as much joy as it has me over the years.
The TNG uniform looks very good on you by the way.😘😊
Jen's reaction when she found out it was Khan was everything I hoped for! ❤❤❤😊😄🎉🎉 You're the best, Jen!!! ❤🤗
Khaaaan!! 🖖
@@jenmurrayxo "Khaaaaann, you are so Strange... like Stephen" :D
I saw this in the theater, I personally like the alt timeline, I think it is fun. I love your reaction to this. You called the ship my girl, you are so one of us now. Love ya Jen, good times!
🖖
I got to see it in 3D. It was stunning.
In the prime timeline, Carol is the mother of Kirk's son David...
love your reactions 🤓. definitely rocking that uniform 😍🖖 much respect Birmingham UK 🇬🇧.
"even though they started out on a lie they can still fall in love" They did, and the result was David (Kirk's son).
Woohoo glad I have Jen to curl up on the couch with while there is a blizzard outside…there is also a pile of laundry I’m folding
*WE COME IN PEACE*
🖖
It's sadly ironic Chekov was asked to put on a red shirt... The actor Anton Yelchin died in a car accident shortly before the release of the third film 😞🙏
33:04 This scene is so so good. The "At great cost" line gives me chills every Vulcan time.
I'm glad that you enjoyed this, Jen, all the 'Star Trek' Kelvin Timeline films are good in my opinion so, to answer your question, yes, please do react to 'Star Trek: Beyond'.
Oh snap, Jen's in uniform...phasers definately set on stunning! I may need to sit down.
I am legit so excited for this reaction!🤓🖖😮🤯🥰🥳👏🏾
I'm glad that you watched this after "Space Seed" and "The Wrath of Khan."
like with t2, people who were not aware of the movie until after the ad campaigns got the best experience. actually, with this movie, it was internet chatter that ruined the reveal of kahn. and then jj abrams' team generated a lot of ill will when they didn't just hedge but lied and told people that it was NOT kahn. so everyone kinda spoiled it for each other. but you got the pure experience and while imo, it's not as good as the first one, it's pretty fun. just wish the ending were better... the reactor scene should have looked dangerous in a visual way. even the fx they used for spock's irradiation in wrath of kahn was better for heaven's sake!
It's still a bad film regardless.
I have said it before, Jen: you are a tonic. You are like a beautiful and adorable hamster and your energy is infectious. 🥰😘🤭 xxx
One last comment for tonight: Jen, your beautiful smile and laugh, along with your wit and inquisitiveness are enough to make you the best natural antidepressant on the internet. You are Canada's sweetheart. 🥰🥰🤭😘 xxx
Jen should be wearing gold to show she's literally a boss🙂
That's a TNG uniform. In that period Red was the colour of Command Branch.
This was a fun watch with you. I love seeing you get so excited about a franchise that I love so much. I think I have a new appreciation of this installment, now. As for Beyond, YES, please watch it. While I enjoyed the first Kelvin timeline movie and it holds a special place because I saw it with my mom, who introduced me to Trek, and my sister, who never really watched before that film... Beyond is probably (in my opinion) the best of the trilogy. Not only is there plenty of action and cool aliens, it is the most original of the three. I don't know if they will ever do anything else with this timeline, but to me they were just starting to really develop their own personality and style with Beyond.
At the rate they're going, the prequel will come out before ST 4 does. At least Abrams has said they will not be recasting Chekov; I really don't want to see anyone else play him in this version. RIP Anton Yelchin. 💙
I'm glad it was exciting for you. Fab cosplay! I'm seeing stars. 💜
Thanks for sharing this reaction, Jen! Alice Eve(Carol Marcus) has other science fiction presence. She's also in "Replicas," "Men In Black 3," and "Criminal."
I loved that they brought Carol Marcus back in this timeline, but looking at Kirk and her side-by-side, it's much harder imagining them having a grown son together than it was in the original Wrath of Khan movie. Both look way too young. They clearly never hooked up in this timeline, either; didn't even know each other.
@@xzonia1- This is a revision of the original movie timeline. This movie takes place as Kirk’s first assignment as Captain of the Enterprise around 28 years old. The original Wrath of Khan takes place near his retirement age (60) and he is an Admiral.
There is no reason to compare the JJAbram’s timeline (USS Kelvin) to the original TV/movie timelines. It’s a different dimension.
@@Swordsfor200Alex Yes, I know. lol. I probably should have worded my comment differently. :)
I'm more of an old school Star Trek that watched the old movies before the original series. I like them better than the new movies, but I can detach myself from them and enjoy the new ones. In this one I like Benedict Cumberbatch's impersonation of Khan best. The way he talks is so "Montalban'. Just great 😊!
Fun fact. The first time the Vengance attacks the Enterprise. If you watch carefully you can see R2D2 get ejected into space
Let's hear it for Tribble Technology!!! 🙂
Always wondered what a TV series with this cast would've been like. Friday just got better, love it when you get to visit the Enterprise. Great reaction as always Jen!!!
eh...
Strange New Worlds gets pretty close.
SNW is my fav
@@bcn1gh7h4wk I like SNW,except for the dancing crew and klingons, hard to take that dancing routine seriously. So glad TNG,DS9 or Voyager never did some bull&&&& like that. LOL. There maybe a new Kelvin time line trek film and I' pretty sure there won't be a dancing crew scene. At least I hope not.
@@user-be7tc2bd6e no, neither TNG, nor DS9 or Voyager did anything like that... TNG had an episode where people were turned into children and another one where the crew was turned into the Merry Men of Sherwood... DS9 had their baseball game, and that episode with the Hunger Games-like tabletop game... and Voyager had that episode with Naomi's childhood dreams.
no... thank god neither of them did anything like it.
@@bcn1gh7h4wk Dancing segments are totally different than the episodes you're comparing it to. Especially dancing Klingons. WTF. LOL.
I agree with you Jen. I looked at these as homage to the original cast. And they did a fantastic job of casting actors who truly give you the flavor of the originsl cast with their own personality mixed in. Loved all 3 movies, and i think you will too.
Hi Jen, i wanted to point out the actor that played Admiral Marcus also played Robocop. Cool uniform, and as always, terrific reaction 😊
Alright, let's do this!
Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan is Awesome, always a Warp Factor of Fun with Jen On these Star Trek adventures
I've been told by experts that Zoe Saldana's pronunciation of Klingon is unusually accurate.
The problem with the alternate timeline is that Kirk's personality is entirely different because his childhood was entirely different, and because Vulcan, which was a major player, barely exists.
Love this one a lot. Another great reaction Jen!
This was my favorite credit music, the mashup of various versions was amazing.
Great Star Trek reaction. Captain Bruce Greenwood also came in Double Jeopardy movie 1999 Ashley Judd Tommy Lee Jones you should definitely watch it. Compelling thriller. ❤🎉😊
Great reaction! Such.a good nod to all the original stories. I love it!!
Was waiting with baited breath for the Khan reveal to "click" with you Jen... It was glorious...
I could see the wheels turning in your brain, on your face and thought you'd get it after hearing
about the 72 men and women in the torpedoes. Reaction Well Done!
I personally can't wait for you to get to a few more TNG episodes and then the TNG movies. Hurry up!
I have moved on to the "Deafeningly Loud Music" portion of my evening, but this is absolutely the first thing I'm watching tomorrow morning.😁😍
Happy Weekend, Jen. Much like Star Trek, you are a Classic that never goes out of style. 🥃☮❤
Alice Eve as a young Carol Marcus. Bibi Besch acted in the depressing as heck 1983 TV movie The Day After.
Oof. Right in the feels re Red Shirt. They don't kill off Chekov, however the actor Anton Yelchin did die in a tragic accident between this film and the next.
He did film the next film, but died a month before it was released.
Thank You Jen!
That beginning, ancient aliens in reverse.
Karl Urban is such a good “Bones.” I grew up with my mom watching the original series all the time as re-runs and his performance just nails it the “Bones energy.” Lol
I totally agree! I love him as Bones and those are hard shoes to fill!
I enjoy watching your reactions 😂
“I now know what red shirt means!” Jen. 🎉😊🎉
The cool thing is Trekkies like Jen know that Sulu DOES become captain (of the Excelsior) in the original timeline!
The second of the reboot movies, just like the second of the OG movies, introduced both Khan AND Carol Marcus (who, in Wrath of Khan, was co-creator of the Genesis project and mother of Kirk's son).
Has it been mentioned to you that Carol Marcus was the old love of “ 46:59 Wrath of Khan” who also created both the Gensis Device as well as their son David?
Jen, Live Long and Prosper! 🖖
Finally!! I hope a lot for this!
One of my favorites! Thanks Jen, always here for more Trek!😊...Eric
Good to see your comment here, Eric.
I hope that things are good with you my friend?
@@Adam_Le-Roi_Davis. Things are well. Hope you're feeling better. Been busy lately?
@@e.d.2096 Hi Eric, you just caught me before I go to bed.
I'm glad to hear that things are going well with you, this makes me happy.
Sadly, I'm not any better, I still have this virus whatever it is, one of the symptoms is coughing most of the time so, at the moment I can't go for any auditions due to it, hopefully it will pass soon. Of course having a suppressed immune system because of my autoimmune disease and being asthmatic these things tend to be easily caught and hard to get rid of for me, sadly. It's just gone 1am here, Eric so, I'm going to try to get some sleep now if my coughing will let me my friend. I look forward to catching up more on Sunday for Star Trek TNG, hopefully things will have improved a bit by then my friend.
Hi, Jen, it's a double-Trek week, cool! Did you get any snow this week?
That was fun! Thank you Jen!
HOLY FRIGG I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! As the first one after watching these I immediately watched again. I think we need a Drink to every FRIGG by Jenn game!! I grew up on the old series and reruns and still love all three of these movies. They are more perfect than NOMAD! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
OMG! We're already doing this one? I'm syked!
Of all the Star Trek movies (the old ones and the new ones) this is my favorite. The homage to Khan was awesome (Cumberbatch was amazing) and the chemistry of this cast is outstanding. Great reaction.
He’s a fantastic actor. You see he’s a bad guy but he’s hurt, hurt people tend to hurt people.
This was my favorite of the new Star Trek movies. That opening 10 minutes gives me chills every time I see it.
I just have to say that star trek with Jen is the best thing that has happend. 😊
"After a group of indigenes saw their first plane fly over Vanuatu, a remote island in the South Pacific of Australia, during the Second World War they created a religion based on the worship of aircrafts. The religion was first discovered in 1946 by Australian government patrols.
The planes occasionally delivered food and supplies to the islanders so the group began to believe that cargo would be brought to them by a Messiah. As a result, whenever they saw a plane fly overhead, they would build a replica in the hope that they would receive “more blessings”."
The so-called cargo-cult. Thinking that replicating the look of something without understanding the workings is enough to recreate the same outcome.
What broke me was the fact the Enterprise was able to call up Spock Prime on New Vulcan just _minutes_ after Uhura said they couldn't contact Starfleet for help. They were literally within sight of Earth, too!
If you want another good Chris Pine movie definitely check out the movie Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves
Fun fact: Bones mentioning the C-section on the pregnant Gorn was actually featured in the Star Trek video game. I literally started laughing in the theater at that scene since I played the game and remembered that exact moment.
¤ INCOMING MESSAGE FROM STARFLEET COMMAND: ¤
You're awesome, Commander Murray! So glad you joined our crew.
I grew up with Star Trek from the original series, to the last series, followed by the movies. Star Trek is unequivocally one of the greatest, if not the greatest, continued stories on many different levels.
My favorite of the Kelvin time line👍🏻👍🏻 I just love how much you are loving Star Trek. Welcome to the club🤩
You gotta see the 4k disc version of this. They fill the whole screen with the scenes shot in IMAX
If you don't have a 4k player they have a Blu-ray compendium that also has the full screen Blu-ray in 1080p
Your memory will remain forever in our hearts. Rest peacefully, Anton Viktorovich Yelchin.
Yes, this is Carol Marcus. The one that helped create the Genesis project in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and the mother of David. Kirk's son.
This movie has its own interpretation of Carol Marcus, Khan, and tribbles. And its own version of self sacrifice with the ship's core radiation leak. -OG
Anton Yelchin died in 2016. Giacchino's "Klingon music" is underrated.
The BEST Star Trek reactions hands down! GREAT reaction, Jen 🖒🖒
When these pre-se-reboot movies first came out, I had not yet seen Wrath of Khan. It's very obvious now how much that film influenced these first two J.J. Abrams movies.
17:26 Mark! Aha! This time, I noticed her! It is no wonder then that some people think that she is actress Colby Smulders! 🤔
Khan's such a tragic and complicated character - and to see you appreciate every bit of this...makes every atom of my nerdiness all giddy inside.
When that actress playing Carol Marcus changes clothes....😲
Kirk just did what All-Us Guys would've done...He looked! 😍👍
I Was Watching This Movie With My Friends And They Loved It!
While ST purists (and I'm one of them) may hate the "Kelvinverse" and this movie in particular, I rank it not only among the best of all of ST (including the best of the ST movies alongside The Voyage Home and The Wrath of Khan), but for me, personally, it also stands confidently among my favorite 30 movies of all time. It is a genuinely smart, beautifully made "blockbuster" (Abrams' best work as a director) -- smartly written and well-structured, beautifully shot, edited and scored (maybe my favorite of the great Michael Giachinno's music) with a story, when analyzed, is an elemental "hero's journey" that essentially sees Captain Jim Kirk (in a truly great performance from Chris Pine) undergo the trials necessary for growth into manhood and well-earned command. I really enjoyed your reactions and your general take on it, Ms. Murray (intelligent as well as fun as always) -- it genuinely made me appreciate the picture even more. Thanks for this!
So glad you enjoyed 🖖
