    My order arrive about an hour ago. I am beyond impressed. I mean, I expected a lot based on the various reviews… but I never expected this much.
    While it won’t become my principal office book due to me having one I am bound to pray, I truly believe it will become a trusted and welcomed companion on my journey of faith.
    Thank you for the amazing work that went into “Da Brick”…

    Just ordered one of these. We have been doing Fr. Michael Jarret’s liturgy for families for a little over a year, and I think we are ready to move into BCP proper.
    I am more familiar with hearing chant / antiphonal singing in the Orthodox Church, which I have always thought very beautiful and edifying, but could never bring myself (as a convinced but liturgical Protestant) to sing the Hours right through. I am very thankful for this breviary and hope that it restores some sense of transcendence to modern worship.

    I too tried to order the first printing, but it was sold out. I'm hoping to get money together to order a copy on July 25th.
    Saint Benedict and Saint Bernard are favorites of mine, along with some early Desert Fathers and Saint John Cassian. This Breviary should work quite nicely.
    Of course, I love the Anglican Breviary and the Anglican Office Book as well, but I also want something comparable to them with a solid modern language translation of the scriptures.
    Excellent prayer book!

    Fr. Ben, I am so thankful for this breviary. It has been a great help to my prayer life and to those whom I've recommended it to. Our parish uses your pointing for the Psalms on Sundays and the Hymns of the Heart as our main source of music. As of right now, we are printing them weekly, but I am curious: are there any plans to have the Psalms and the Hymns bound together? Or do you have a recommendation for a way that a parish could have about 125 of these made?

      @@benjefferies8531 Thank you for the tip! I tried to contact them by email, but did not receive a reply. It may indeed be better to call, only I need to check the call prices with my phone company. Or maybe I will try to get my friend who is visiting the US to bring me a “St. Bernard Breviary”.
      By the way, could I get a PDF of the “Vigils” service from you? I would like to use it until I can get access to a paper copy of your breviary. I noticed that you share excerpts related to the examination of conscience on the Anglican Compass website, so I thought maybe you would also make an exception for the “Vigils” service, since I don't think it is in any other Anglican prayer book. Many thanks to you in advance!

  • @MichaelJosephHamm
    @MichaelJosephHamm Před 2 měsíci

    Hi Ben! Love the breviary, use it all the time. One thing- The first printing had some issues with the placement of notation on the staff. My guess is it has to do with the black and red, that the paper is not aligned properly between the application of the red and the black inks. Sometimes it is very difficult to tell if a note is on the line or not-as a musician and teacher looking to help a community learn to chant, the visually unclear notations create some obstacles. In the spirit of St Bernard, who took men out into the woods to simply sing the psalms and returned the gift of song to the people, can you look into fixing those notations? Thank you so much. It’s mostly in the front part of the book (office and litany), not so much the psalter or hymnal.

    • @benjefferies8531
      @benjefferies8531  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Yes - I am happy to report that this has been corrected in the second printing. The printers graciously agreed to run the machines slower - which reduces paper slippage between the red and black plates. (You diagnosed it correctly) - and this has been totally effective - and the red and black are now nearly perfectly aligned in every case (it was the first thing I checked upon getting the second printing)
      Sorry for this gaffe in the first printing.

    • @benjefferies8531
      @benjefferies8531  Před 2 měsíci

      Can I ask what production details you have in mind specifically, that LEGO does that KoreaPrinting does not?

    • @benjefferies8531
