I've always been surprised that none of the big countries (US, Russia, China, etc...) haven't just gone in and full-on invaded and taken over countries like Djibouti. Yes, i know it would be costly initially. But surely the long-term payoff would be worth it? All these problems could be solved very quickly.

dw it's not an insult it's normal for most people but are you either really young or new to these topics?
tldr military occupation is highly ineffective, which a lot people don't get since brute force *seems* like the "simple" solution to things usually
      reasons being
      -people hate you
-you have to pay lots of money to bring your stuff there
-you have to pay lots of money to keep it there
-people will try to break your stuff because they hate you
-it's bad for your reputation so other countries will be taking note
-if the people hate you then they don't really want to work with you so you have to either pay people more or do things yourself
basically the old european style imperialism really only worked for a while because there was such a huge tech gap between them and everyone else, making other countries either get crushed or more cooperative, both being because eu just had more tech and money
it's the reason why countries like the us follow a "small and temporary" type of military presence now (temporary meaning only that there is some kind of objective at play and not simply a land grab)
far simpler to just put a little bit of money everywhere *just in case* something happens but not having to take on the actual responsibilities of the countries they are in, while also getting more reach to more strategic areas

He's saying "de" as "deux". How are you going to correct someone when you can't even pronounce it yourself 💀

    • @vincemarenger7122
      @vincemarenger7122 Před 18 dny +1

No, he isn't ??? He is pronouncing "de" with the vowel [ ø̞ ].
"Deux", on the other hand, uses an entirely different vowel [ ø ]...
In a lot of places in Europe, "de" and "deux" ARE pronounced exactly the same, so idk why you're offended in the first place...
Anyway, his point was not to pronounce "de" like "dé", which is definitely way off.

Here's a fun plot twist: religious fanatics think that the Arc of the Covenant may be located within Ethiopia. Thus controlling it and the region around it are critical for their silly texts to become "true"-ish... per them. Lmao. 🥱
