The Female Perspective: Mary of Hungary

In terms of the relation to the arts, Mary of Hungary was surely the most astute member of her generation in the House of Austria. She was the main architect of the imperial image of Emperor Charles V and a skilled strategist who used art to serve the political interests of her dynasty.
The Prado Museum treasures the stories of great women who were leading historical figures in the patronage of the arts. The documentary series The Female Perspective brings us closer to these queens, princesses, regents, and governors who made significant contributions both to the creation and consolidation of the Museum and to enriching the collections that we are fortunate to admire today.

Excelente reportage. Me he gustado la mención a su gusto por los primitivos flamencos. Me hubiese gustado que se mencionase el cuadro del Matrimonio Arnolfini de Jon Van Eyck, obre maestra de la historia de la pintura, que pertenecía a la colección de María de Hungría, que pasó a las colecciones reales españolas tras su muerte y que fue desgraciadamente pillado por las tropas napoleónicas durante la guerra de la independencia para acabar en Inglaterra, donde se expone hoy.
