You've probably heard of Wonyoung a lot bc she was the center of IZONE and is arguably the most famous 4th gen idol in South Korea she is in all the ads all the magazine covers all the collab stages and all the tabloids her branding is insane, ppl tend to call her Jennie's daughter but like in a positive way. In After Like, they used a sample of the song I will survive by Gloria Gaynor. I think it was a really nice touch to it !
But just like you, I wasn't a fan of Love Dive or even After Like but then it grew on me so much, now I love them. My favorite is still Eleven though !

Kitsch took me a few. Love Dive and After Like we’re “good” to me right away, but I’d say I love them now. Eleven is currently my 15th or 16th favorite kpop song ever so that’s self explanatory.

For legal documents and stuff, yes. But I think it will be the same for day to day life. Because it is an old tradition or custom. It is not a bad or good thing itself, so I guess we are going to keep using the Korean age system, which we are used to.
ive is the literal definition of monster rookies !! they got around 3 or 4 daesangs (biggest award any k-pop artists/ groups can get) with love dive! they won song of the year with it! rei and gauel also make their own raps! the both usually tend to write the raps together. all 6 girls are incredibly talented and they don’t deserve any of the hate they get. i’m so glad you’re enjoying ive !! i really enjoyed your reaction. you said after like reminded you of a song during the dance break and it’s because they sampled “I will survive” haha. as for kitsch i feel like it still has to grow on me a little more, but i still really enjoy it and i absolutely love the lyrics, the vibe for kitsch is so different from their other songs and that’s what i love ! i cant wait for their full length album in april😭

I love IVE's music so much! Love Dive is my sh*t and all their music have been top tier. Kitsch is a pre release for their upcoming full album and I have never beem more excited for a comeback!

yujin who is the leader and the one you said was pretty at the start is one of the most versatile idol there is, she is a fairly good dancer, has the best personality and great vocals, also she makes an effort to sing live pretty much everytime, and her voice is the same on mv and live, she is so good
rei write her own rap but is also a very good vocalist aswell, very stable
your favorite part in after like was gaeul and she went VIRAL for that part, she trended a lot and koreans sang this part a shit ton when ive appeared

I didn’t like Kitsch at first but it took me a while three listens for it to grow on me. Any song with lots of chanting is a grower for me.

RJ, I hope you check out Iz*one. Sadly they were a temporary group but it was a super group that gifted us so many talents. I've members, Lesserafim members, 4soloists: Kwon Eunbi, Yena, Jo Yuri, Lee Chaeyeon - they all from Iz*one.
They have a great discography: both for TT and B-sides ❤ 12 members with insane dance synchronization. And one of the funniest groups 😂

The fireworks section in After Like is pretty interesting, as you mentioned. Apparently the girls were told they had to get it right the first time, because they didn't want to keep getting more fireworks, and the plan was to use them all the first try. The part post-chorus that you recognized is "I will survive", the 70's disco hit.

You definitely NEED to check out IZ*ONE!! They were disbanded on 2021 due to their contract. But their songs are great and even the choreos are fire! IZ*ONE literally has the best member including : Le Sserafim's Kim Chaewon & Miyawaki Sakura, Ive's Jang Wonyoung & An Yujin, Soloists and Actresses Choi Yena, Jo Yuri, Kwon Eunbi, Lee Chaeyeon, Kang Hyewon, Kim Minju and AKB48's group Honda Hitomi & Yabuki Nako. Fyi, Wonyoung is the center of this group.
And now you have to react to "I am", their high vocals are in point there!

Before watching your reaction (very curious if your opinion for Eleven or Love Dive will be different). IVE got into my personal Top 5 Groups of "all time" with only three singles. "Love Dive" was my favorite song in 2022, "My Satistfaction" was my favorite B-Side in 2022 and overall IVE was my favorite group in 2022. I'm not alone. IVE won "Best Group (Female) Of The Year 2022" (Daesang) and "Best Song Of The Year 2022" (MMA, with "Love Dive"). Their numbers (views, popularity, sales, charts...) got pretty crazy even reaching levels usually only reserved for Blackpink or Twice. IVE is one of the (if not THE) "monster rookie" group(s) that made 2022 into the "year of the girl groups". Two other important "monster rookie groups" are of course "New Jeans" and "Le Sserafim". Personally I would also add "Billlie" (try "Ring Ma Bell") and of course the upcoming "Babymonster" from YG. All very different and uniquely their own. Its a great time for K-Pop, especially if you're a fan of girl groups.

Kitsch is a style of like clothes, accessories, makeup, etc. They're saying that their style is that of a nineteen year old, (adult) and they're happy with it even if no one else is. :)
Wonyoung is the most famous 4th gen idol that’s why you probably heard a lot about her.
Just for you to remember, whenever there's a 'eo' in a name like here Leeseo or Hoseok (BTS) or Taeyeon (Solo) it's always pronounced as 'Oh' as in a very surprised way. So like 'O' but a bit higher and not with like 'Ouh' as you would pronounce it on English. Hope that made sense.

"Kitsch" had me shocked, as well. I started off really loving the softish sound and wondered where the chorus would go, but it went in a totally different dimension that I was NOT expecting. It's going bad at all, but groups these days seem to love to startle their listeners.
sometimes it's fun to revisit songs bc you end up actually liking them later on! also funnily enough when they came back with love dive at first i was like meh about it especially bc i loved eleven so much immediately but it grew on me so quickly and ended up being my fav release of 2022!
it's really interesting seeing how different we all are too; kitsch is definitely my least favourite of their songs so far. i think it could grow on me but idk. personally hoping the title track is better and my girl liz gets more lines/isn't shoved in the background 🥴

I found IVE because of Love Dive & am still super obsessed with it (mostly that chorus “so narcissistic…” very Leo / Slytherin vibey). Eleven had to grow a little on me & for some reason I must have listened to After Like at the wrong time. Kitsch is an absolute gem.

Another English word for it would be "knickknacks". An example for a kitchy object would be a lava lamp or a souvenir Eiffel tower from a tourist shop. But I couldn't figure out how IVE uses the word in the song and what it's supposed to mean there.

For example, Baz Luhrmann's Moulin Rouge is a well-known kitsch film. It is flashy and cheesy and artistic at the same time.
You forgot the first rule of kpop, don't talk about...wrong reference. First rule of kpop, if it doesn't hit right away its meant to be a grower. I didn't like kitsch because of the chorus but it hit hard on the 3rd listen which was this morning. Great reaction.

There’s always drama around IVE. Wonyoung is getting hated because people feel there’s favoritism towards her by the company, as well as people always talking about her weight bc she keeps getting thinner and thinner. Also Liz keeps getting less and less lines each comeback even though she’s supposedly the main vocalist, which gets people talking about conspiracies. For ‘Kitsch’ she literally has only 5 seconds of lines and almost no screentime
Wonyoung gets hate bc kpoppies are jealous she's more popular and relevant than their faves....they just use those claims of favoritism, weight, the way she eats, talks, bows (basically everything she does) as an excuse to hate on her
@@benji0099 exactly. yujin doesnt experience the same amount of hate despite being fully booked too (plus they both have 4 years headstart, the other members obviously wont get the same gigs right away as newbies) and then you have members like leeseo and rei who are obviously pushed by starship from day 1. gaeul gained attention with after like and starship has been pushing her since then. its only liz who gets bad treatment which is unfair but still, 5/6 getting treated well is different than only 1 person getting treated well
Wonyoung get hated for no reason while yunjin is not. Ive won't be that popular during debut if it wasn't because of them. These two were the reason I look forward to Ive. Only after that, I started to love every members

When I heard "Love Dive" for the first time I didn't like it. After hearing it a few times I love it. Now I even know Japanese lyrics of Love Dive and Eleven and adore these girls (especially Rei). I wish there were Japanese version of Kitsch and After Like, but I started to learn Korean since January, so maybe in some time I'll learn lyrics in Korean.😀
