zach had a running joke in their New Vegas videos (which these campfire stories are recorded during, but since the conversations are unrelated tangents mike edits them out into their own videos) that he was a sleeper agent and his trigger phrase was "Mac And Cheese", and his mission was to kill the governor.
after an actual attempt to kill the governor of michigan happened and it made national news, he realized right here that it may not be a good idea to continue that gag.

Corned beef doesn't have any effect on the cattle other than killing them in the first place. You don't get corned beef because of how an animal is raised or slaughtered. It's just a specific type of brisket cut that's brined in salt water. That's it. It's salt beef brisket.

If blue rare is done properly then it is NEVER cold or raw. It is brought properly up to temp but for less than three seconds. It takes so much training to be able to gain certification (and yes it requires certification to be allowed to cook blue rare in restaurants) that chefs who can do it can write their own ticket. Restaurant owners will declare corporate war when one of these chefs posts their resume.
Properly cooked, blue rare is the most tender, juicy, dissolves upon touching the tongue piece of heaven you can ever eat.

The Navy does have a list of items that are considered contraband aboard ship, and they do have a system similar to the amnesty boxes Zach Hazard describes. However they do not have to deal with the same level of restrictions as ground based forces (except when sailors on are shore leave). The ground based forces have to not only abide by military regulations but the laws of the hosting nation as well. Hence why porn and alcohol were contraband on Zach's Army base as they are illegal in Iraq.

    • @dhamon45
      @dhamon45 Před rokem +2

But honestly, any contraband would just get dropped over the side. They may not officially look into who dropped something off, but there would be a record of what was dropped in a box, anything dropped overboard might as well never existed in the first place.

Fun fact about the Whitmer plot was the fact that most of the plotters were essentially double agents, as in they were fed agents thinking they were about to bust a big group, only when they did, they discovered most of the group were also fed agents and only like 1-3 of the people were actually going to kidnap her.
It's like when a bunch of agents trying to bust a traffick ring bust another group who are also trying to bust a trafficking ring, and it's just two sets of government agents accidentally spending months trying to bust each other thinking the other group were criminals.
Edit: Which caused a lot of blowback on the FBI for not stopping it way sooner, and making it seem that either, A) they had no coordination and were inept, or B) were corrupt and trying to get someone to break the law for political reasons.

In regards to the H&K M16 mags, if they're the ones I'm thinking of I totally get why he kept them. I used to sell magazines for a living, and the H&K AR15 mags we sold (which would of course fit an M16 since it's the same platform) were stainless steel, with a steel follower and a very good spring. The finish was corrosion-resistant as well. They were VERY high quality mags. One guy bought a bunch from us, took them out into the desert, and then used them so heavily over the course of a few years that the finish was entirely worn off, and he said they still fed smooth as butter.
We sold those mags for 40 bucks a pop (though nowadays they go for closer to 60 afaik) and almost always sold out. Every now and then at gun shows we'd get some military members buying them. I now wonder just how many of those were actually for personal weapons and how many were bought so they could be resold on base or because someone wanted to see if they could get away with using them in their M16

    • @KipReacts

Also, the Michigan thing is because there was apparently a plot by a fringe group who were tired of Governor Whitmore (or however her name is spelled) and how she was running covid restrictions in that part of the country, where according to the news at the time, she allegedly made people wear masks even inside their house among other things (I can't remember this was around the mid point of either 2020 or more likely 2021 around Christmas time, I think). Also, the group was apparently plotting to kidnap her and remove her, and if the news reports are to be believed.....they were also going to unalive her in vicious fashion upon capture and removal. I'm pretty sure I got most of this wrong, I'm going off of memory and the fact that she was and still is a very unlikeable person especially for a politician.

So funny story, great to see another cook. According to the FDA and health department, medium rare chicken is able to be served. It has to come up to a temp of 145 degrees, and held at a constant 145 for 10 minutes straight. For every 5 degrees you scale up, you remove 2 minutes of hold time. This is why you get the 165 and it's good to serve immediately.

Every other part is for uniform items, another critical clothes for your time on the boat. The AB drawer is basically your space. Limited space so its for all your things like mail, books. Anything small that can fit in it and still let you lock the damn thing. Never got to pass basic but it was common to swipe tea or peanut butter cups and stash them in there until after taps. How to cook a steak:
Step 1: Season your steak with salt pepper and garlic powder on all sides. Less is more in this regard, try not to use too much.
Step 2: Cook your steak until slightly pink on the inside. This is medium rare. There are other ways to cook your steak including Blue Rare (heavy sear, very tender) Rare (cooked until I think it's 230 degrees Fahrenheit on the inside. Tender) Medium Rare (Standard for newcomers, very tender with heavy flavor. A good balance) Medium Well (Well done except it conserves some tenderness and taste) Well Done ( You're an actual psychopath if you like this. Takes decades to chew thru and tastes like chicken covered in gasoline turned into rubber and set on fire.)
Step 3: Let the steak rest for 2-6 minutes depending on what level you cooked it to. Well done being the max, blue Rare being the least.

I just asked my dad, and he said they didn't have amnesty boxes on the ships when he was in the Navy. He said if someone had something they weren't supposed to have, they just threw it over the side before they were caught.
Regarding bad exeriences with food, I have two stories, actually. The first was when I was about 12 or so. I had woken up on a weekend to find that the only cereal in the house was peanut butter captain crunch, but there wasn't enough for a full bowl, so I got the brilliant idea to make it with... *_SCRAMBLED EGGS!_* Yes, it was as bad as it sounds, but not as bad as my worst food experience. When I was around 7 or 8, I used to be super into Slim Jims, because when my dad would take me with him somewhere, we'd stop and get a fountain drink or a slurpee, and a Slim Jim. So this one time, my mom had taken me to the base hospital to get my allergy shots (used to get two shots, once a week), and at the hospital PX, they didn't have a soda fountain or anything like that, but they did have Slim Jims. So I got the jerky, and was looking for something to drink in the refridgerator case, and decided to go with... *_CHOCOLATE MILK._* Let me tell you, when that bite of spiced processed meat hit the chocolate milk in my belly,, it was like a switch was flipped. I almost threw up in the parking lot, it was so bad. To this day, I cannot even stand the _smell_ of a Slim Jim. Still love peanut butter captain crunch and scrambled eggs, just not together.

As for the fried ice cream, you can do the cake method but that’s like the jerry-rigging version. The actual version they prescoop the ice cream and put the scoops into a deep freezer, you just have to prepare it beforehand. Another way is by using liquid nitrogen to flash freeze it before dipping it in the batter.

The point of cooking is to denature the protein so that the body can more easily absorb them. If you are not cooking your steak till it is brown all the way through you are not cooking it. You're just warming it up at that point. If you want to still have flavor at that point though, the trick is to not cook it on a grill but on a skillet and let the steaks soak in its own juices while being cooked. Keep it covered so that we would normally be steam stays in. It will taste amazing be properly cooked and you can add seasoning after the fact cuz the meat is still wet.

Chili has to have beans in it. If it doesnt, it's chili sauce. You can still call it chili, personally i dont care, but if you say you have chili and it doesn't have beans, you'll need to tell me beforehand.

I feel very similar to Zach, I am 31 now and I never had a good steak, or any for the matter. Thing is, we don't really do beef here in general (except ground beef, mostly for burger patties. So yeah, the best steak I had was a hamburger...), so the few times I had beef it was always on an event or something where they had to prepare for hundreds of people and need to keep it warm and stuff, so it was always kinda like shoe leather. That and, I am convinced, most people here, even average kitchen staff, just Don't know how to prepare steak "properly" since is is so rarely used.
Edit: Also, hearing you call any kind of beef a "cheap Proteine" possibly made me pop a blood vessel just now

For when you do finally decide to do your corned beef, Bon Ap has a pretty good recipe on it. As to the rest of the meat question, the "if you did it right you don't need to season it" is an extension of the 1900s "in the old days they used spices to hide that the meat was old"... the rich liked spices until spices got cheap enough that the poor could afford them, then they went to "if you really had money, you could get meat that didn't need spices"... I know a lot from that generation who are anti-seasoning because "are you saying I don't cook well enough?"
