    Always mount the magnet part of the door/window sensor on the "moveable portion of the door or window" and the sensor itself on the door frame or window frame. Otherwise, the constant banging of the door or window will eventually cause the electronics of the sensor to go bad!

    I had the Ring Gen1 and it worked great but they released the Ring Pro hub with backup internet and I had to have it as my cable internet goes out quite frequently. Now The Pro hub offers local camera storage via SD card which I like and the backup internet works GREAT as it can keep the cameras connected and can use non-Ring products to stay connected to the internet as well as in my case Alexa, smartthings, and Switchbot. The Pro hub works with ALL my Gen1 sensors so no added cost. They only difference is this costs $200 a year but you get that backup cellular internet with 3Gb of data per month. For me it's worth the upgrade and the extra $100 a year.

  • @laurencegoodchild2856

    Thanks for the video. Much more meaningful given that you've had a year to test it out! One question I have that I'm struggling to find a clear answer to: say your internet connection drops while the alarm is armed, will it remain armed and still go off if triggered? To put it another way, do the individual components still speak to each other without an internet connection? I intend to buy one of these alarms, but will not be getting the protection plan, so this is vital to me, as otherwise it could be prone to failure from time to time. Cheers.

      Yes the alarm still works like normal without an internet connection

    Love ring quick question do you think a Ethernet connection to the base station is better than a wifi hook up. Enjoy the videos

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Před 2 lety +4

      As long as you have a good wifi connection, I don't see the need for Ethernet. This device is not using much bandwidth unlike a computer where it would be more beneficial to use Ethernet. Hope this helps. In summary, either way works, Ethernet or good wifi

    Hi! Quick question..how did you remove the contact sensor from the door?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Před 2 lety

      To replace the battery, I just slide it off. To remove it permanently, it’s sticky tape so took some effort of pulling and wiggling until it came off

    Is there a way of partially arming this system? I mean lets say we are upstairs and want the downstairs fully armed like we are away, is this possible? Does it have zones?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes, you can setup home mode to do just that. I have two videos explaining what can or can't be done: I suggest watching my other video: czcams.com/video/HLlEdtSpJ5w/video.html
      I also have a FAQ video but this app your I really go into everything

    • @Dan_Capone
      @Dan_Capone Před 2 lety +1

      It only has 3 modes: disarmed, away and home. You can set up home to activate only certain sensors, but you can't set up different scenarios for when you're doing certain things, so if you want the downstairs sensors to be activated when you go upstairs you'd activate the Home mode only when you actually go upstairs instead of when you enter your house.

  • @theuncreatedlight4717

    Does the door sound only come through the base station? Or does the keypad also make an alert sound when someone opens a door?

  • @mateuszmikolajczyk3185

    If I do not want to have protect plus subscription, and power go out, but my router has battery backup, Will ring alam still send notification to my phone App for example motion alert? Will i get notification about power goes out?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Před rokem

      I’m not sure, probably best to ask ring for that. I know in theory it can as long as your router and modem have power which allows your internet connection but I don’t know if that’s how the base station works.

    How is it working with google assistant? And is there any point of having a subscription if you don't have any ring camera's?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Před rokem

      I use it with Alexa not google assistant. There is a point to subscription if you want professional monitoring in the case something happens.

    Motion Sensor 2 x AA for about 6 months ...uhmmm ,,,my ADT motion sensor batteries are lasting at least 2 years!
    Maybe changing 2 x Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries to increase longer usage?

    • @landpet
      @landpet  Před 2 lety

      Could be the batteries and a combination of usage, meaning that's the motion detector in our living room which is constantly being triggered.
