Also surprised you didn't notice that Kusakabe is Araragi lol
This was originally a manga from 2006 and 10 years later they made a movie, there's a second part (only manga) that is sotsugyousei (when they graduate and live their lives together and stuff), and I really hope that they make a movie for that one too. I really loved this movie ❣

There's nothing deep or complicated or amazing about the story - it's just a simple tale, handled with finesse, of two young men figuring out how to love each other. The art style took me a few minutes to adjust to the first time I watched it, then I grew to love it. It's so different from the typical anime style - very watercolor and soft and unique. If you're ever in the mood for another BL movie, I highly recommend Umibe no Etranger (Stranger by the Sea). It's gorgeously animated and it goes a bit deeper into being a gay man in Japan - the emotional trauma that can cause, the self-hate, the fear, the lonliness. But it isn't a dark or gloomy story at all. It feels realistic, especially with the MC being an adult rather than a teenager. Anyway...thanks for reacting to this wonderful movie and so glad you liked it!
