He keeps touting the low specs but like, that console's crunching literally hundreds of bespoke projectile trajectories that are reactive to the environment and/or change in real time with enemy positioning, so the lag is absolutely understandable.
Never thought I would see a run from this series! Bangai-O Spirits was a huge game of my childhood, didn't know anybody actually played these games.

TheAngelChaz Right? I don’t have a DC, but if there was a port to another system, maybe VC on the Wii, I would pick this up in a second. Never heard it before either but it looks super fun.
There is a sequel for the DS, Bangai-O Spirits. It adds new mechanics and has a level editor that lets you transfer files using the speakers & microphone (instead of wifi...)

Im happy i have one DC alive to try this game out
Always loved this game (still have it and Ikaruga too) even though I was just barely good enough at it to beat it. The bizarre charm of the "story" doesn't quite come out in a speedrun, though the wacky gameplay only seems even wackier.
I kind of wonder whether Treasure will ever release a great game again... also wonder if they'll ever port anything besides Ikaruga to PC/Steam.

Yeah had this on DC and like all Treasure games it was hard as fuck and I couldn't ever finish it but this was a great watch.
Great to see this, love the DS game. Still gotta get the Xbox 360 one and this one.

I'm still disappointed that there is no modern version of Bangai-O, but maybe it's best that they wait until we have a Ryzen CPU in consoles before updating the game.
