You made the right choice..Ford is the recall king
I think so!
To me, roof lights/markers are a must have, you can buy the trailer tpms later for around the same price and can add a trailer camera that is integrated in your camera views. I use the bed step that comes out of the tailgate all the time, so much easier. Do you have a reason not to get a 1 ton? I bought a 7.3, F350 and never reset the mpg calculator, with 4K miles it reads 12.5 mpg, but I enjoy the engine and can be heavy footed.
Great points, thank you for sharing! I did forget the clearance lights and agree that'd be a nice add for sure. And, thanks for tip on TPMS too. I did the 3/4 ton in the build video since that's what I opted for on my GM for comparison, but certainly a lot of capability with the 1 ton SRW. I went 3/4 ton on my GM for slight weight savings, softer suspension, and lower GVWR, but that is just personal preference. I bet your F350 is a sharp truck, super capable too. Thank you again.
I had a 8.1 vortec with 4:10s. The new 6.6 vortec is a good motor but it just can’t compare to the 7.3 with 4:30s. The way it manhandles 10k when towing is impressive.
I'd really be curious what differences in fuel consumption between the small block in the GM and big block in the Ford? Also, are both of them regular octane fuel or is premium fuel recommended or required for either one. I think premium fuel is recommended for the GM.
Great point. From what I've heard 7.3L is thirstier, as expected, but not enough to make it a deal breaker for most. Probably just a 1-2 mpg difference in reality. Both use regular octane fuel, including L8T.
You’ve speced this f250 almost exactly like I have been mulling over for one. Doesn’t this upscale XLT come with dual auto climate? Your sle does.
I could be mistaken, but I don't think the XLT has auto dual zone climate. I was actually quite surprised GM offered it on my SLE, but it's nice to have. Think on Ford you have to step up to Lariat to get auto dual zone climate.
I'm going to assume you didn't care for the pro trailer assist and the pro hitch assist?
Great point. Yeah, I think it'd be more confusing for me personally. To be candid I've never tried it firsthand, but between the setup needed for ea trailer and me being accustomed to the rhythm without already, I'd only skip it for those reasons. Otherwise it sounds like a pretty nifty feature. Would love to be try it out firsthand someday. I think if I recall Ford was the pioneer so likely they've perfected it even moreso in the latest gen.
@@AdventureRocks I'm considering trading my Texas Edition Silverado for a F-150 and could use the pro trailer and pro hitch until I get get gooder at backing a trailer..
@@Bronco2Cj I hear you. It's my understanding Ford has made the setup less intense and easier to use in the latest gen. And if you order it, at least it's there when you want to use it and you can turn it off when you don't want it.
@@AdventureRocks Very true. Even the RAM has that feature, which makes me believe Chevy/GMC is 4-5 or more years behindon technology and I'm a Chevy/GMC guy.... how long will it be before GMC has this feature? I truly don't want to trade my 2022 Silverado but Ford seems more advance on features to help simplify towing.
@@Bronco2Cj Great point. I do think GM has edge with the trailering app and setup in the infotainment system over Ford & RAM. The GM trailering app is pretty slick. And, I think the different camera angles on GM combined with resolution/detail are class-leading. But, GM is missing the guided back-up feature. Always a give and take, right?
You made the right choice..
Thanks, no regrets. Very thankful for it.
Gm v8 has lifters problem gm is a recall king too
A few months back i bought a new F350 7.3. I was trying to decide between the Ford and GMC. I went with the Ford for a few reasons:
Solid front axle
Same transmission as the H.O. diesel gets. GMC gets a cheaper transmission in the gas variants.
More power and same or better fuel economy.
Payload. 4460lbs of payload in mine.
Great tips, thank you.
@@AdventureRocks hopefully it works out. I've always driven Tundras and GMCs.
70k? Hahahahaha!
I hear you. $70K is the new ~$50K from a 6-7 years back. My understanding is inflation peaked in 2022 at over 8%. Inflation is slowing down thankfully, but still leveling off in the 3% range which is higher than 2015 when it was almost 0%. Still frustrating for all of us though and hard to get used to. I remember when I bought a 2016 diesel near fully-loaded truck in mid-50s and thought that was high at the time. Now fully loaded diesel duallys price out at or over $100K.
