This is close in size to my current cross stitch project. But it is from a book and is counted cross stitch. I've never made a cartoon to fill in. So I have an adult coloring book with amazing detailed and exotic dragonflies on exotic backgrounds, looks very stained glass. You inspired me to do a series of them. Today I ordered a light box. I have hundreds of skeins that are brighter than my normal projects, so I have been contemplating a bright project. Stained glass... who doesn't love it! So I'll have a bunch of 8x10s. My big project is a 100 shades of tan with a touch of pine.
I am a deep autumn, my wardrobe is deep autumn, my house is deep autumn. I even have a bitty zen refuge in the back yard, all in 5 acres of zen forest. It is why I have so many skeins of multicolor. So much cheaper to buy 450 every color packages of skeins, about 5 cents each. Still I have about 1000 skeins of colors at this time.
    I enjoy your channel.

Your choice to keep the stitches used limited is definitely the right choice. I agree the smoothness of your embroidery stitches accentuates the stained glass quality of your work. They are gorgeous.

Illustrator now has a quick action tool to turn an image into vectors! I'm sure it will come in handy. I love seeing your art

I watched the 12 hours in 7 minutes video of you outlining this and after 12 hours of screen time and the havoc it wrecks on your eyes and energy/excitement level (usually gun hoe in the beginning and rushing through exhausted and over it towards the end the fact that you only missed 2 lines and not more (from what I could see) is my quite amazing. Well, I'm off to see if you finished your second chapter here as it's been 8 mos since this videos been uploaded. Really love your channel as I'm getting into sewing and embroidery work as well. Plus, your personality is right up my alley so I've been enjoying your videos. I've been hoping around to different videos of yours and can't wait to see what's next. Take care. 🙃

one of my favourite stained glass scenes is the scene where the enchantress reveals herself and the prince (Adam) is begging on his knees

I started a 25"×17 xstitch in November...almost 2/3 done. The time will pass quickly!

Satin stitch embroidery looks like such a daunting idea. Facing a project that size with stitches that need to be so neatly placed freehand (uncounted like cross-stitch) feels terrifying.
Also, EXCELLENT work making that line work pattern! Amazing. Can't wait to watch the rest of these to see how this piece is turning out.

was just thinking about shading while you were talking about satin stitch and the sun. have you ever tried starting with all 6 strands of one color, then 5 of that color and then 1 of the next, then 4 and 2 etc to solid of the second color? then do the same with the next shade? I wonder how that would work out. sort of like colored pencils or Comic marker coloring.

Thanks! I searched through google images for a long time for the best/highest quality version of the stained glass window, and I ended up with several to utilize and compare, so that's definitely a good option. However, what I actually "traced" over in Photoshop was a picture I took of my laptop screen while playing the movie! I made sure I was holding my phone really squarely lined up with the screen so there would be as little warping as possible, and that picture ended up being the best representation of the window I could find!

That's an interesting idea that I hadn't considered... I might have to do a few tests of some different stitches and see which one looks best surrounded by the satin stitch on the rest of the piece. Thanks!

I also try to guess how long I’ll do over a project, right now I’ve got a list of cross stitch that should last me almost two years, and I’m hoping to do your beauty and the beast piece sometime in the future too but I’ll need to practice satin-stitch first :p

How do you keep the line art from moving on the backside of the piece of fabric while you're tracing it? Do you pin it in place? tape?
