  • These rigs are known for leaking around the cargo doors and my '95 was no exception. A rainy day revealed the problem right away...let's fix it.

Going to have to take a look at my 99. Having similar issues, so bad leaking along passenger side of my headliner.

I have a 2000 Tahoe Limited, mine had a major leak from the driver side quarter glass. I noticed that the seal or caulking on an exterior roof by the C pillar was cracked, due to age obviously. I used some black permatex sealer or gasket maker I had. It fixed it.

Use 1/2” frost king caulk saver and feed it through the holes in the back of the weatherstripping, that will keep the seal from collapsing.

Bought a seal from LHC trucks and it leaked worse than the one it was replacing. Yanked one out of a junk yard and it had a yellow stripe near the upper latch. But being that old, it leaked too. Special ordered one ($231!!!) from Chevy dealer, and it looks like the LHC one. They swear it doesn't need adhesive sealant, but finding that it won't stay up on the metal flange without crimping the metal-backed part down to hold on, but that has to deform the seal.

It's a gift from god to buy a car/truck from you.... You're one of the very few people that go through stuff the correct way and fix things the way they should be fixed. At one time I was the same way... For some reason I just don't have the patience for it anymore. All I ever get done is dealing with everyone else's bullshit and problems. Hats off to you tyler.

I use Vaseline on old rubber seals. It nourishes old shrunk seals and plumps them up.

My 94 gmc suberban had same issue and i was able to use a small diameter rope and tucked it underneath the rubber seal. it made it thicker and worked out great! i was going to use a little glue to hold it in place but so far so good after 10 years.

Tucked it into the seal or against the body beneath the seal

I have a 99, it would leak around that rear seal when I parked it under the trees and debris built up by the seal. Once I cleaned it, leak usually quit until next time dirt built up.

Nice job with the repair Tyler. LMC quality seals are pretty good. I've bought a few from them in them in the past 🙂👍 Take care

Those brackets for the compartments were so rotted on my Tahoe I couldn’t reuse them after cleaning them up. Does anyone know where I can find them at?

I had a bad 3rd brake light leak on my truck finally. Water testing with a hose revealed nothing. It had to be saturated for 30 mins, an hr for it to start pissing in. Hose test is worthless some times. IF that seal has a small hole in it where its joined together fish a piece of small vacuum tubing that fits in it it might puff it up a bit so its stronger. Good luck with LMC truck it could be some generic seal they sell at a high price. Looks like it I gave up on that place

A few years back you couldn’t give away a pickup or suv with 200K on the odometer, It’s not like that anymore.

I have an old car that had a leak in the trunk. I think one problem was the seal, which visually looked good. I sprayed some silicone spray on it, that said it was safe for rubber, and it seemed to work, but I don't know for sure.

Ah ha!! The Einstein's at G.M. are at it again.....
1973 Vega GT; rear driver's side rear upper swing arm bolt was broken. (The Vega took a hit in that area as fender was pushed in. Earlier owner did it.)
To remove that bolt, I had to remove the rear seat, cut a hole in the floor to be able to replace the broken bolt...
    I resealed the hole.
The whole time I was working on this, I kept thinking; G.M.'s Mark of Excellance!!
    Shining through!!!!!!
Ford, well they have a better idea. Pity they never use it!
