    What piano do you have?

  • @rayva1

I only played that intro and first verse once on piano several years ago after driving home with that hit being aired on the radio. The tune stuck in my head for days that I had to play it. No sheet notes. No tutorials. Nothing else, but by memory only.

Man is that hard! Not the notes, but the timing. Been playing it over and over and over .....

I watch every video on this song tutorial and everybody fails to mention correct chord names. It gets very confusing, cos on 2:25 mark you say the same thing like everybody: "lets get back to the same fingering of E chord, but this time it will mean C# minor". You have to name correct chord names, otherwise you can say the the first chord is C# minor too. I'm gonna explain this in detailed manner. The first chord is E5, where only root E and fifth B is played against B note an octave lower. Next chord is B4, where root F# is played with fourth B against a note B an octave lower. Then you play the next chord which seems the same fingering as the first chord, but it is actually C# minor 7 (or more exactly C# minor minor 7) , which is made of C# minor with added minor seventh B note , but once again, instead of using traditional full three or four note chord, it is deconstructed to use only two notes of C# minor minor 7 - the third (which is E note) and the seventh (B note) ... When i see first and third chords they seem identical fingering, but tutorials say they are different chords. How can this be? So for noobs i made an explanation here: )

Hi Mr. Z. The piano explanation was very good. But the piano is only on about a third, or less than half the song. Then Jonathan plays a string patch. Of course they are the same chords. But the voicings he plays sound really good. I can sort of pick them out, but I am still not sure. I wish there was also an explanation on the string voicings. Thanks anyway. Be Well... Danny

I think they are just the same voicings as in the piano intro but with another rhythm…

The bass line needs to be a octave lower but not doubled and as the song progresses the bass line changes a bit to flow along with the guitar solo
