awesome blog. I have saved your list of accomodation recomendations for when I start my planning. If i plan to stay in any of the towns you did I will check your list. Thanks. Most of your accomodations sounded just perfect for me as I like to stay in smaller private rooms.
What a great journey that was ! I enjoyed following you ! Thank you so much for sharing your adventure ! My granddaughter gave me a large size I pad and that was the greatest gift I ever received . I am so grateful I stumbled on your channel. You opened a lot more of the world for me. Much love from an old Dutch lady in California !🇳🇱💕🌷
Aw thank you Yvonne! What a sweet grand daughter you have ❤️
I felt the same way, Yvonne! I’m an old Scottish lady in Pennsylvania! 🤗

Liebe Vanhalla!
El Camino, Wanderweg.
Egal woher fängst du denn an!
Egal was du als Lebensstil hast, hast du denn geplant , das, was wichtig ist, was du denkst, was du wirklich möchtest, um deine Seele füllen möchtest.
Wenn, hast du geträumt, (Egal was), muss dein Ziel erreichen.
LG. :-)
Thanks so much for sharing all this info. When planning a trip like this, it's nice to know the little details and not just the highlights.
Really great vlog with needed info. Thank you for sharing and doing all that work for us.
Thanks so much! I have been waiting for this one. So kind to do a list for us as well. Appreciate it!
You are so welcome! 😀
Very helpful info! Thank you. My wife and I are planning to do the Camino in a couple months
Thanks! I really enjoyed your Camino series. It's one of the only ones I have seen that doesn't portray it as a "walk in the park" - you make it real!! MY wife and I walked the Camino Portuguese last year and this year will do part of the Frances (SJPDP-Pamplona) only due to our schedules. Tried getting the Zubiri place you stayed (Txantxorena) but was booked so we got one next door!! I really hope your health improves...
Such an informative video and so generous of you to share! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I never booked more than one day ahead. It was impossible to predict what might occur from day to day to throw you off a rigid schedule of more than a day - if something happened to you (good or bad) then you have a lot of bookings to adjust!
Excellent! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much Cristal for the comprehensive information. I love your videos. I am all booked to do the Camino next year. Your advice has been gold ! ❤
You are so welcome!
Good info. I would also suggest booking ahead in Santiago. When I was 5 days out I booked an albergue as a precaution. I also booked in St-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Orisson, as you did. As for me, I stayed in pilgrim albergues and just showed up - mainly cuz I never knew how far I’d walk 😂 and rarely had issues with not finding a place. Only 3 times did I have to try elsewhere and that was in the same town. I know you had gear with you so private made more sense for you. I also loved your group shot from Orisson - it brings back my Sept 2019 Camino memories. 💫
Oh yes! I heard Santiago was difficult unless one wants to pay VERY high prices ($300+ a night).
@@vanhallaadventures Really?!? Wow! That certainly has gone up since my Camino. I paid €25. Yes, definitely good to book ahead in Santiago.
Thank you for this video:)
Glad it was helpful! :)
I appreciate the details! I have to say, I'm in total shock at the prices. I was told budgeting $50 per day would be high-end. The 2022 guidebooks are quoting prices half of what you have listed. Sounds like costs have skyrocketed.
I would say $50 a day is fine if you stay in hostels with no private lodging and have pilgrim meals. The prices are a lot higher than what the guides have generally speaking. An average meal is $10-$15 US though breakfast is lite or non-existent. I had snacks for about $2-$3 during the day and 1 - 2 meals. It starts adding up.
For the luggage transfers, what if you want your bag to meet you a couple times along the way, say Leon and one other place, and then at the end? Can you have a delivery service that isn't every day but is intermittent like you can in Japan?
Great blog! I just checked it out and it’s mega packed with info. 🎉
Yay! I know no one asked for it but I thought it would be helpful :)
@@vanhallaadventures absolutely! People might not ask because they just hadn’t thought of it or thought that it’s too big of a request. When I saw your blog I was very impressed! Soo much info.
I enjoyed watching your journey and look forward to more from you guys. I would really enjoy a video from you about your health issues you had and what exactly you did to heal, and what your routines are with your herbal coffee? you make in the mornings, etc. I am very into health as I have issues as well. I haven't found any links regarding your wellness company and am interested. Thanks
This was filled with great info. Since you booked in advance some lodging and bag transport, what happened when you wanted to stay longer in one place?
Same question, particularly regarding lodging. One day longer means that you'd have to change all your following bookings I suppose?
Oh good question! In one episode of this series I ended up getting to my Accomodation really early and felt like walking longer and I ended up switching it that day. While that May not be a great idea, as long as you let your luggage transport know by 8pm the day prior you can switch out your tag. Albergues usually have someone there that you can ask to print a new tag out.
I would just WhatsApp Pilbeo and tell them I needed to change plans. They then sent me a new tag and if I couldn’t print it, I would make sure and just write it on the tag very legibly and ensure Pilbeo knew that I wasn’t able to print a new one.
BUT you could always just use JacoTrans and write up a new tag everyday. They have tags near the front door of every albergue.
Does that all make sense?
@@vanhallaadventuresA bit 🤪 I'm not familiar with the whole tag thing but that's on me 😃
Thanks for taking the time to reply in detail. I really appreciate it 🙏🏻

I’m just on episode 2 of your journey… you just finished the Pyrenees.. curious what month you started? I did the SJDPDP to Pamplona section in November of 2019 and didn’t took the low route due to high route being closed by snow.
I started in May and ended mid-July 🙂
The rooms seem big enough for two people. Would that double the price?
Hi Cristal! Good to see you 🙂
How do you feel now, several months after your pilgrimage? Do you notice lasting changes in any way?
Much love from Belgium 😊
I love this ask ☺️ the journey has changed me in ways that sometimes feel odd to describe but I’ll do my best.
After walking and coming back to the van I had a feeling I would never live the way I used to live again. Not necessarily in all the BIG ways like moving into a house but in smaller ways like how I approach life. I look at things differently. I don’t take small things so seriously. I’m more relaxed. Less stressed. I feel more comfortable about life/death. It gave me a new passion for walking. It changed the way I see people. It invigorated my desire more physically demanding activities. It breathed new Life into me.
Our next video, this Saturday, will go over life after the Camino. I had a very tumultuous time for a bit that I didn’t talk about on here yet so I’ll be sharing that and a little of what’s next.
@@vanhallaadventures Awesome! That sounds like profound change on many levels ❤️
I'm looking forward to your next video 😊
This video is totally antithetical to the spirit of the Camino. I walked the Camino, stayed at pilgrim auberques. You are a bucketlister attracting people who have no other purpose than to check off something on a list. I find it hard to believe you walked the Camino since you're too focused on your personal comfort.
I suggest walking the Camino again ✌🏻 blessed be.
All being well I shall be on the Camino this coming summer. Hopefully fellow pelegrinos will live the spirit that each can “walk their own Camino” and leave judgement elsewhere.
