Those were the most joy filled episodes! They have always been my favorite. There was no hint of “a baby I left behind and meant to return too.” This is crap.

Doesn't help Luke won't give an inch or understand the trauma Laura went through being kidnapped. Also doesn't help Luke's tendency to escape when angry and inability to release control.
It's really all about the writers of the story. Genie and Tony simply acted as instructed. I did learn however to enjoy their great acting skills no matter what storylines the wrote.

He couldn't deal with the mundane but necessary responsibilities of life. His insatiable wanderlust finally exceeded his lust/love for Laura. I love TG, but the character of Luke just got darker and more devious as time went on, until he nearly drowned himself in booze. It was a sad deterioration to watch.
Luke really showed how cruel he was when he wanted to hurt Laura and Nicholas future. He hated Nicholas so much. Blaming an innocent boy for his birth. I hate luke

Luke does need to take more responsibility but it's not like he never has. It's just that evil side of him that keeps coming up and he can never put down. Also, it is a miracle that they lasted this long in a relationship/marriage. It's not like he grew up around great examples. I don't think Laura was too good for him especially with all her emotional baggage. Luke just had low self esteem from his Elm street days that he never completely got over...that interrupted their relationship at times as well. I know people like this in real life.
Agreed, it took him a long time to grow up and face his demons. They were an odd match but that is often when sparks fly, opposites and unlikely couples.

Luke’s weakness was his background-he always felt less than and was always having to earn his spot in Laura’s heart by being the hero. Whenever he perceived Laura to reject him he took off. This pattern was established after he gave her the cigar band engagement ring and the next day she declared herself to be Mrs. Scottie Baldwin at the left handed boy press conference. It took a year for him to trust her again.
What the hell was there going on behind the scenes??? Was Luke‘s/AGs leaving again story-driven or were there external (private) reasons? Did the audience back then really want to see this dull, square love story between Laura and Stephan rather than the complex and bumpy relationship of L & L? Sorry, but Laura (and, I must admit, also the actress) is getting on my nerves with her oh so good and prissy behaviour. After all, one has almost to be glad that they finally split up (and I did love their romance!!!), so one is from now on spared their awkward love scenes, with which GF felt obviously so uneasy from a certain point in the mid-nineties on. But I have the distinct feeling that I am in a minority with my liking of AG‘s acting and how he is ticking (and I know, he (the character as well as the actor) sometimes can be irritating and pretentious). The slightly sad scene when they all except Luke are gathered for the christmas party just strengthens my sympathy for the character because of his (and surely also AGs) free-spirited and nonconformist nature and aversion of this phoney kitsch. What gives one a certain satisfaction at this point of time is the fact, that at least the following year AG finally once again won the Daytime Emmy Award for his performance in 1998. (Sorry for my non-native English.)
Who said that Luke‘s behaviour was all right? Who, apart from this, wants flawless characters? Why must many soap watchers (including you, sorry) constantly pass moral judgments? Only moral ambiguity gives depth to a character and makes it interesting - Luke is a prime example of that - in addition he was brilliantly portrayed by TG most of the time. (Besides, I‘m pretty sure that Luke was written in this rather unappealing way to make the upcoming romance between Laura and Stephan acceptable for the rather conservative daytime TV audience back then. But I expressed my not so friendly opinion about that already, so I‘ll stop here.)

What sort of marriage/love has a woman hiding her son because her husband would be mad. Laura couldn’t go to Luke and ask his help to get back her son for years and when Nikolas does appear Luke has never supported this woman about her own son and yet we’re supposed to believe their a great love story?
I loved Laura and Stefan and that's what started me watching GH. I only know L&L through YOuTube. Luke couldn't accept the angel wings falling off Laura. To abuse and plan revenge on Laura's totally innocent teenage son is disgusting. Laura's love for Luke was never in question but Luke couldn't stand even the whiff of disloyalty. Laura had plenty of reasons turning away from Luke at this point.
I don't or can't begin to even fathom what goes on behind the TV camera or there Actors or Actress's. But the LnL love story was once so beautiful and full of joy. Together they both weathered the best and worst of there short marriage life. So many people wanted them torn apart the damm Cascading Curse. Plus sorry but let's face facts Luke always Ran into the eye of the storm. Knowing Luke he sometimes made the trouble in the first place. Laura had done her beat to sometime lie or not telling all of the truths. But Laura always made a effort to make or tried to smooth things over. So why at this late date blame it all on Laura. There are to many lies or mistakes made with on and off the camera. I still do love Luke and Laura. May the best part of GH RIP. You know maybe Laura should have stayed with Scotty.... My understanding both Genie and Geary wanted a new LNL storyline. However, I don't expect Geary realized the Stefan Laura chemistry was a genuine threat to his kingdom. Never underestimate Geary's ego.

He helped create one of the most iconic characters ever.

Been watching allot of L&L CZcams stuff, my opinion, their chemistry was strongest with the initial seduction and left-handed boy story. Tptb should have let them ride into the sunset, cause attempts to create a believable middle-aged L&L hit snags over and over. Every road led to disaster or boredom, especially for the actors. AG created a brilliant character but also wanted to destroy it.
