This video shows how we program a replacement engine control module on a 2011 Jeep Liberty by simply changing the VIN. This procedure works on most Chrysler, Dodge Jeep vehicles.

Excellent video, thank you! My alternator wouldn't charge and I had a few other quirky issues I think related to the PCM. I got the same part # ECU out of a wreck and followed your video with my MK808. It runs like it should now.

This video perfectly helped me install a new PCM. Now the TCM is having issues with the new PCM but at least it runs now. If only in 2nd gear.
Best way to fix any chrysler product is to sell it. It’s cheaper too.

So the PCM is just plug and play? (other than the vin change) Did you have to program the IMMO too?
Also, can this be done on a used computer? Or does it have to be new??
As long as you match the part # then the VIN change is all that is needed for the vehicle to start.

THE METHOD WAS DONE WRONG I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND IT WORKED CHANGING THE ORIGINAL WITH THE NEW ONE,THE RIGHT WAY ITS GOING IN TO SPECIAL FUNCTION AND CHANGE THE VIN ONCE YOU HAVE WRITE THE RIGHT VIN IT WILL ASK YOU IF THIS ITS CORECT YOU PRESS YES,AND THEM THIS WILL BE CHANGED OUT.

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty that has the code p0888. I don’t believe it has a faulty tmc/pcm because the Jeep drive fine. No issues shifting gears,etc. I opened up the tmc box and it looks clean. I reset the code and it stayed off until the vehicle shifted gears and came back on. Any advice? I don’t believe it is a faulty tmc. Anyway to test it or test the wires?

From personal experience I know the maxisys pro and elite series both work to do VIN relearn. There may be other model as well.
Yes that about all that waste of money took can do is a relearn I can do the same thing with a 25 dollar to and a vin fee of 20 bucks per car, don't waste money on glorified code readers

Could you program it with a snap on scan tool I have a 06 ecu to go in a 08 jeep commander because I'm using a 06 engine which has a diffrent egr valve I believe
You shouldn't have a problem doing this procedure with a descent snap on scan tool. We do recommend replacing with an ecu with the same part #.

No PIN needed on these.
My 2011 jeep liberty(cherokee) ecu got fried buy my alternator and now the new alternator wont stay at a charged amp level because of my old alternator. Should I get a used ecu? Or better to get brand new from jeep?? Im from Australia btw
This jeep had the same issue, alterator not charging. Put a used ecu in which fixed the problem. Our customer chose used ecu vs new to save money.

That's how you program a used PCM not a new one. A new PCM takes much more.
Can you get the secret 4 digits pincode with that tool?
Not that I'm aware of. I have the model just below this and it wouldn't do it. There's an app out there for your phone called PIN PULL or CHRYSLER PIN PULL that's fairly cheap to use $14-25 I think, but I'm not a fan of apps / permissions, so I found a local mobile key / fob guy on Marketplace after the local dealers refused to give me my own code like they apparently used to because they want the money from programming an OEM only fob that they want to sell you. (No thanks) The local guy charged me like $25 each to pull PINS from a couple of my '08 Jeeps. I'd rather support him that dealerships that feel like they have you under a barrel.
