- So as you can tell from the title, I've been playing harp for 10 freaking years! Making this video was a trip down memory lane and to be honest, I cried a bit. I'm going to be graduating from high school soon and hopefully I will continue harp in college so seeing my progression from 10 years ago to now made me teary.
Happy 13 Subscribers! If only this was my 13 year progression this would make more sense... but if I wait for 3 more years, HOPEFULLY, I'd have 13 subscribers so no matter what, it won't make sense

You did great! It's tough to keep doing it for ten years, and it took lots of patience and dedication. I started learning harp in 2011, one year later than you (but I'm much older than you :), then I quit shortly due to graduation, start to work, this year I pick it up and start again, hopefully, I can continue for 10 years just as you! Again, wonderful job young lady, wish you a happy college life!

Wonderful video- it is too bad harps are so expensive- everyone should have a chance to play if they want. I love my celtic harp but will never play like this.

This video really inspired me. I have taken harp lessons for over 3 years now. In the beginning I was just learning it for self entertainment and relaxation purpose. I only planned to learn the fundamentals and the basics so that I could play some songs that I liked. Last year I started to learn more difficult (to me) pieces and started to slowly changing my mind about my harp goals. I started to push myself more. Then I came across this video. Watching your progression helps me to visualize my future progression in harp. I am excited about your harp journey and the new pieces you are learning.
Btw, I think you have really good memory since back then you memorized Reverie in a day. Your current pieces are so long. Maybe one day you can give a video on tips to memorize a long piece?

Wow this was wonderful!! I'm at the same stage as you were at 15 and so it was really cool to see someone grow up at the same pace as me! Also, the ensemble piece you didn't know the name of is Triptic Dance! I think that's how you spell it....which camp did you play it at? Also your sisters sound AMAZING!! Especially your oldest sisters singing!

I’m currently on my 8th year, going onto 9th year of playing the harp! I started when I was 6, and I’m about to take my grade 7 ABRSM exam! ( thank goodness there’s no aural this year, I like playing the pieces better ) I always get super motivated to continue playing the harp when I see these kind of videos, thanks!

I just bought a "Fireside Harp" for fun, half way through decorating it. It makes me wonder if my 6yo will "take" it from me and go down a similar path as you have gone. Who knows? Good luck with the next phase of life.

you are amazing, harp is quite expensive but we have here in the Philippines selling harp from Cebu, the instrument is heavy and big, but there are small harp in online shop, maybe I'll try one. I am inspired.

When I was younger I did 30 min every day, but once I was more serious in High School, it was 3 hours a day and in college… well my major is harp so i do 4-5 hours a day haha
I have a quick question where did you get all of your church music? I'm looking for something to play at my church and the songs you played sounded like some of the ones I was looking for.
I used arrangements from Julie Geysford Keyes a alot! Or i used piano music and just play on harp haha I love a lot of Sally Defords arrangements! And hers are free! Haha

Aaaw thank you!!! I’m sure you can! There’s many videos out there that talk about the basic form for harp! Also, you can check out harp column academy! Its a website. Theres a fee but you can get help from many professional professors for online lessons!

Thank you!! I started learning from Dr. Brandenburg, switched between many teachers in the middle, and then in high school I learned from Dr. Haefner! I did a blend of styles since I moved between teachers a lol haha

I always wanted to play piano, guitar, or something that I can play with my small hands but my parents aren't really that supportive with music. I was thinking if I could buy and play a harp when I'm an adult. Do you think I can play just like you someday? ☺
Yes of course! It just takes practice~ when I first started out I did 30 minutes a day but when I was more serious I would do a couple hours of practice a day. Do whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy! And don’t worry to much about how much of a musical background you have. Everyone starts out not knowing much anyways😂 I wish you luck!! The harp makes everyone happy🥰😂

Aaaw yeah it’s definitely an investment! They have some rental programs though that are cheaper!

@@tiredaf218 for me, I didn’t start playing the harder pieces until my sophomore year so it took about 9 years? But that’s because I never really tried in harp until my sophomore year. Thats when I actually started to push myself to play harder pieces!

Can u play the piano too?
Yes! I learned piano and violin before harp but never practiced them as much as harp and then stopped lessons when I got older haha~

@@ssimms8995 personally I thought it had helped me since O was used to reading on the Grand Staff but (maybe this is just me lol) but I found it confusing at first when it came to reading in other keys since the harp uses pedals and the piano has black keys. I’m fine with it now though haha but at first it made me confused lol
How much does a good harp cost?
That depends on the harp! I’d say a smaller harp can cost from $500-$1000. If you add levers, add a couple hundred to that! And then pedal harps in general are about $20,000. Of course the bigger and better the brand, the more they will cost! I hope this helps!

@@f1ftyfiftycl0wn i like the lever harps from Salvi personally! I know they can get pricy but the octave range is pretty good and that offers a wider range in music! Also, the quality is amazing! If you get a smaller harp, it will be cheaper but I find Salvi to be the best price for the really good quality and reasonable sizes! And there are also rental programs available too! I don’t know much about it though since I’ve never rented a harp but friends of mine have done it and it worked well for them! I hope that helps!
