    For those wondering abt Nicky Rods rashguard, it says "Fast-systematic Jiu Jitsu" in Japanese

    • @CameronQuinnKyokushinKarate
      @CameronQuinnKyokushinKarate Před rokem +1

      Actually, for the language nerds (including me) I was wondering about that too. The word they have used, "Sokusei", with those kanji, is not a word in Japanese. So I think they have made it up. In Chinese it is a word though. It means "speed production" or "rapid development". In this context it probably refers to fast- tracking skill learning in BJJ. There is a word in Japanese that is pronounced the same, sokusei, but uses different kanji, 速成. That word in Japanese refers to a similar concept, ie, an 80/20 approach to learning, such as an intensive, fast-learning course. Either way, I guess it works for them. But confusing kanji with the intention of saying something that has a slightly different meaning is not uncommon. Even some of Gordon's tattoos are a little funky like that.

  • @josephbreza-grappling9459

    Don’t come up to the waist. That’s bad advice. His whizzer is ineffective when you’re on the legs. Once you come up to the waist, you give him a useful whizzer. There’s many things you can do if he doesn’t fall from running the pipe, but coming up to the waist is a habit I try to break in everyone I’ve ever coached.
    Try that shit against anyone who is good, and you will get your face smashed in the mat when he uses that whizzer hard and uchi matta’s your face to the mat. Stepping around is a JV wrestler mistake-it makes the whizzer even more effective. I personally like to head and arm them when they try to walk behind. It’s a nasty throw and takes zero energy on my part. So by all means, come up to the waist and walk around-you’re going for a ride.
    What he showed by stepping in the middle with the bodylock is sound advice. If you end up there, because he pulled you up, then that’s exactly what you should do. But you don’t want to come up to the waist if you can avoid it. Finishing low is a much higher percentage. John Smith won many world championships and Olympic titles that way. Coming up to the waist just creates a scramble that can be avoided entirely.
