What a wacky universe! Back in the 70s jazz fusion was fairly big in the West...until it finally wasn't anymore. Oh, Stanley Clarke and Jean-Luc Ponty, etc, kept right on playing, but to go less and less acclaim in increasingly smaller venues...only to blow up bigger than ever in India, which added its many flavors and instruments. I am such a fan!
absolutely outstanding musicians here!!! it was amazing, thanks to them for that beautifull music that keeps the customs intact and is so modern at the same time! Really amazed by that band! I didn't heard anything close to that since Mahavishnu orchestra!

We heard Purbayan live in Auckland. He is a genius...played with Manjeet Singh on Tabla and a few other local talent. Magical! This video is great and relives what we experienced ..fabulous!

Amazing musicianship without a doubt. Jaw dropping. Ms.Dey is so talented. The whole band is unbelievable. The engineering and mix is one of the best I've heard especially when you have a killer set of headphones on. Perfection on every level. I have to go now cause I have a drum set to sell, a Bass to sell and I might as well sell my two keyboards while I'm at it cause after seeing this, I'm gonna take up a new hobby like maybe wingsuit jumping or the Rodeo. Lol jk 😜

I was gonna buy the exact bass Mohini is playing here (Cort A5). But after watching her play it I guess I'd just buy a tambourine instead.

Hello. Can't believe I see RTF mentioned. They are the reason I started playing drums 35 yrs ago. Specifically "Medieval Overture " was 1st thing I heard.

Louiz Banks. I only saw his videos for the first time a few days ago. Gonna search youtube for what else he's done and also check Amazon in case he has any CDs.
Incredibly creative and tight - Gino Banks on drums. The legendary Taufiq Qereshi on percussion. Soon of tabla Maestro Ustad Alla Rakha, and brother of the more popular Zakir Hussain. The prodigal child Mohini Dry on bass. One and only Purbayan Chatterji on Sitar. And the amazing Bhushan Parchure on tabla. You can't get all this from the notes, but I feel good telling you just the same.
