    I get a genuine 50 mpg around town I don’t think I’ve ever gone over 3000 rpm crv 1.6 diesel

    Amazing engine. How do you find the traction/cornering with 2WD and wet roads with higher centre of gravity than the Civic?

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo  Před 3 lety +3

      Tbh I have not pushed the car hard enough to explore it’s limits in that respect. It’s just not that kind of car.
      Dynamically clearly a civic will have better body control and better grip but the crv is far more able than most people think in that regards

      @@tommyzoo I've read the suspension is on the soft side. I realise it's not an X3, but I would be driving it with 3 adults and 2 kids plus luggage, mainly highway driving. I might go for the 18" wheels to at least get a little more tyre width on the road than the 17s

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo  Před 3 lety +1

      @@stuey36 it is but i had an X3 which was a lovely car on A roads and the motorway but truly awful in towns or B roads. Especially for passengers.
      It’s a personal choice but the smaller wheels give a much more compliant ride. You are only going to find the limits of grip if you’re pushing pretty hard

    I've got the 2.2 cdti civic 2009. Computer says I average 53mpg. I cover about 10k a year and 7k of that is usually motorway
    One of these I think will be my next car

    With diesel you need to change the gear in my opinion around 3000 or more in town, because this kind of engine get clocked,dpf filter problem plus egr valve same. All the diesel have this problem inside town. On motorway it is a different story and it ok to change around 2000. Conclusion is , if you want a car only for town this is not ok because of dpf filter, buy petrol and never have problem, otherwise for motorway it is fine😊.
    One more thing on this diesel engines it is also a problem after a while the lambda O2 sensor's fail and they are so expensive to change. I know few people who have this kind of car and they had this problem but after high mileage around 150k.

    Mine 1.6 auto 2015 CRV does 28mpg in town and barely 40 on motorway
    What can it be ? Does this normal ?

    • @tommyzoo
      @tommyzoo  Před rokem +1

      Town driving in stop start traffic kills economy. I’d expect somewhere around 30 in town. On the motorway it depends what ‘motorway speeds’ you are driving at !! At 70 Mph I’d expect 45-50. If it doesn’t give that check your engine air filter is clean. Also feel your alloys after a drive and see if any are hot ( carefully !! ). It maybe a binding brake which is easily rectified

      Brakes are in good condition. Service done 2k miles ago .
      Owning car over a year never had higher mpg than stated above. Worried maybe O2 sensors faulty . Also noticed auto transmission makes some noise when changing into 5th gear on 40m/h after change the noise is gone but tranny was serviced 4k miles ago. Very confused with this fuel consumption. 9speed auto should give good fuel save 🤔

      Some update ,
      Had checked by Honda dealer
      Transfer box had to be replaced with faulty
      No more noise shifting gears but mpg still stays the same
      Replaced O2 sensor still no improvement
      Combined mpg aint going over 38.2
      Very frustrated

      I was starting to get concerned but I noticed that the aut trans has the AWD contributing to added weight. I manage 39 at best driving most;y on the highway daily. I think yours is fine.

    This engine is ok, but harsh, noisy and rather underpowered on a crv, but gets the job done.

      @@Dmaelstrom The engine is ok, I find it pretty loud while accelerating from like 1600rpm, after that its like in any standard car. I did not have any problem either on highway or while overtaking someone, for 120hp and SUV its moving.

    Why would you go to the trouble of recording a video but NOT check the ACTUAL fuel economy - simply believing the economy meter? My 2014 CR-V 1.6i-DTEC usually does at least 3mpg LESS than indicated. If you cannot be bothered to accurately measure your genuine fuel economy, you are just wasting people's time.

      Thank you for your charming comment. The clue I guess is where I describe it as completely unscientific…..
      And you do not know that the gauge isn’t accurate in this car which makes it supposition.
