Nicely done. One of the best videos I have ever seen. First time chaining on Saturday coming. 🤞 .

Hello again! I had a scheduled maintenance on my Seat at an authorized service, where I checked the fuel filter change, 76€ in total. Ofc, it was the Black Friday discount price, but I have no hard feelings since the OEM diesel filter costs 40€ at minimum in my country. The service advisor was very friendly and told there is no secret priming via the diagnostics, so I might do it myself next time.

I'd love to tackle this job myself, since this costs +90 € at every garage. But there are lots of debate how to prime it afterwards: with VCDS or just recycling the ignition. With MY 2012 Altea XL I guess it's too risky if you fail and can expect a hefty bill.
Change every 90k km is too rarely (being the official m-program) imo only thinking the amount of fuel that goes through the filter by then. I could easily halve this mileage.

My filter had driven 120,000 km. and therefore very dirty filter. I think 90,000 km suits me, but can see from my bills that the workshop has changed every 60.000 km. You can change it more often if you think it is necessary. I do not understand the first thing you have written, but I experience no problems with changing myself like in the video :-)

@@MichaelKroese The newer car, more maintenance stuff is put behind the car's ECU (engine control unit). Meaning you have to run some diagnostics while the ECU is hooked up with PC (i.e. VCDS scanning software) after some service job like battery change etc. If you don't do this, the car won't even start up, which is the disaster I'm afraid of.

@@physicaingocnito2728 That does not sound right. If your battery fails, the car must be towed to a workshop to have it replaced. I can not imagine that you can not change filters without a computer.

No need to temove can, to many chances of braking things or losing bolts, I sifon de diesel out, ( with a big seringe ) clean with a rag inside and put new filter in. Done. 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌

Good solution, but I think it's easier to take the container out. You are right that the screws you must be careful not to lose. I pinch the tape so that the screw does not fall out of the socket wrench.

I have the diesel 2.0 FR and the fuel housing is never that dirty, it's completely clear, the filter is black yes but that's it.. the bottle you showed was pitch black that shows a really duty tank or dirty engine or is this a 140 bhp thing?

I sent it for scrap after 300,000 km when the head gasket was leaking. Otherwise, I have experienced a bad turbo, leaking radiator flanges and some problems with the VGR system, otherwise super happy with the engine.
