  • I’ve been planning and collecting clips for this compilation for what has been I believe the past 5 months, and it is finally here.
Dates are mostly accurate, some approximate. There may be missing intros. If you have found one, it would be appreciated if you post the link to it in the comments.

Beautiful compliation! I absolutely like the fact that Tahiti traditional music suits very well for these intros. My fav here would be 7:41 because of theme.

I find it interesting that in the intro from 1965 - 1975 there was a waiting clock...

Can you upload the RFO Tahiti le journal theme from 1997 until 1999 ?
Because this one is one of my favourite news themes .

0:38 sounds a bit like the star theme from _Super Mario Bros._

My impression can be wrong. But, it seems that throughout the 90's and 2000's, David Marae seemed to be someone synonymous with Tahitian news broadcast.
I also wonder about the anchors for the French news broadcast: were they born and raised in French Polynesia? Or were they hailed from Metropolitan France?

Many who did the French broadcasts came from Metropolitan France and worked along different RFO stations, like New Caledonia and Paris. I think in recent years though, the anchors of the French News now do indeed come from French Polynesia.
Another presenter synonymous with Tahitian news is E'tienne Raapoto, though David Marae began working earlier than him as Marae originally began on radio in 1970s, appeared on television later on in the early 90s, meanwhile Raapoto appeared on TV by 1984 and continued to anchor Tahitian news until around 2016. Marae retired in 2003 or so.

He appears on this compilation on the 1986 special edition intro and in the early 2010s intros.
