    If anyone was wondering...Cameras used for filming: Nikon D850, Canon XF400, Sony a7 III and the stills were taken with the Nikon D5.
    If you LOVED this episode would you please share it with someone so we can make more?

  • @rockycpa
    @rockycpa Před 6 lety +6

    I am sure this took a lot of work but it is by far the best thing I have seen you do on CZcams. This was all positive and presented something that can be valuable for photographers. I am a CPA and not professional. Photography is just an expensive little hobby I do for my own enjoyment. I think the videos people do of Nikon or Sony or Canon stories of how they do business and why they do or don't do this or that are getting tired. This type of thing really demonstrates you as a photographer and why people should listen to you. Kudos.

      Revised comment to give credit where it's due! FroKnowsPhoto has had extremely high production values for years, and I can't even compare your team to its nominal peers on CZcams. It's easy to step up gear/manpower game while not matching it with skill and finesse, but you guys have managed to do it unlike anyone else on the platform that I've seen, whilst keeping it exciting and fresh.
      I wanted to let you know that we recognize the little things: the sound clip and track mixing, crisp transitions, real mindfulness in cinematography, and just... the passion oozing from every interaction with subjects or your content matter from the entire team! People can say what they want, but you guys put intense work ethic and real care into your work and it really shows. Much love, and a little gushing.

My dad had a "Royal" just like in your photo story and I remember, like you and your brother, typing away in his office on the Royal typewriter to keep me busy during the holidays when I spent a day in the city with my dad. Memories! Thanks for a really wonderful photo story, great images and wonderful trip down memory lane, well done!

    Sheri's Dad ran a typewriter shop on 32nd street. It was 1961. I knew I would need a typewriter in college for all the papers so I learned typing in high school, 40 words per minute. I was visiting Sheri from my home in the Berkshires and she said her dad had a deal for me. It was an old typewriter he revived in his shop and I could have it for 5 bucks. It was a big, heavy black Royal or something, like yours only bigger. Had to be 40 pounds.
    I picked it up, thanked her Dad and hand carried it to the train. I had parked north of the city. At my stop, somehow I ended up kind of jumping off the train while it was just leaving. I was able to stop with the heavy beast in both hands by crashing my back into a platform post. Whew!
    I cherished the old machine at school. It felt the best under my fingertips while typing the stories for creative writing and journalism. Talk about a labor of love--like your photos. Thanks for the memory, Jared

    Man. What a great story. I love seeing two combined passions, from two generations. Modern DSLR photographer capturing the passion of a previous generation. In this case a typewriter! Jared, the one thing I took away from this was my own memories of typing class, and the familiar snap, clicks and bings from a typewriter. It makes me think I can't ever go mirror-less on my Nikon. I love the sound of the shutter. Perhaps it's nostalgia and not very practical, but those old typewriters are the sound of a shutter to me, and I love it! Great production!

    Well done, @JaredPolin! Terrific job capturing the essence of the resurgence of interest in these wonderful old machines. I am of an age such that I can recall taking a typing class in high school. We used IBM Selectrics - imagine a classroom filled with 25 of those buzzing, humming, clacking devices...
    Then, like many others, computers took over my life and many years passed before I touched a typewriter again, until - one day, on the whim of a random remark from a very good friend - I bought one: a vintage Royal portable. And, just like that, I was hooked. I now have nearly two dozen machines stashed here and there in my apartment.
