I had a 97 with a factory rear locker, and I positively adored it. I donated it to a family in Sierra Màdré, CA, and I bought am 80 Series that I also adore. Btw, the family just sent me a photo of the odometer flipping to exactly 300,000 miles. (2” OME suspension, drawer system in the back, K&N air intake, 33” BFG KO2’s, etc.). It was an outrageously good overlander.

I was kinda hoping to see it perform on the fish pond loop.
I have a deep, abiding love of 4-runners. I used to have a 2nd gen 4-runner and it was frigging awesome. It had a 4" lift sitting on 35's with the manual trans. I wish I'd never parted from it.

This video is a huge relief... I am currently going all out to rebuild a 3rd generation 4 runner AND the stress is HUGE... Buget is getting drained fast from all my savings. (fingers crossed) When my build is complete I hope I can have the reliable vehicle that lasts 25 years or more... This video gives hope that is very needed right now..

I absolutely love off-road Toyota and especially 4Runners! I am a 17 year old guy working to buy one of these third gens. My dad had a first gen tundra that I drove this summer but sadly I wrecked it on a wet road. I loved that thing so much.😭 But it wasn’t worth fixing it. So now more than ever I want to buy my own 4Runner and fix it up get a lift kit on it and bumpers and all the good stuff. I am really getting into off-roading. So maybe this spring or summer I’ll have enough money to get one. Trust me I won’t wreck this one. I miss my ole tundra like crazy 😢

3rd gens with manual transmissions are ridiculously hard to find over here in Georgia. 3rd gens with manual and a factory locker almost impossible to come across. They all seem to be in Colorado. It lacks lots of power and speed uphills. I think I’ll keep it on 31”tires and local camping trips as I have since I got it. Was my daily driver till 2 years ago. Replaced LBJ after learning the hard way. Lol any opinions on this base model and size engine. I heard I could replace the gears

Gotta love when these 3rd gens have miles on them. Seriously what other vehicles are out there with over 250k on so many of them? I brought my 4x43rd gen 3 years ago with 241k I'm about to break 280k and I've literally only changed out all fluids the timing belt and put on some 5th gen wheels and tires to get rid of the ugly 3spoke they came with. So in parts including the wheels I've put mayyybbeeee $700 into it. I paid 3600$. It had L entire history on its car fax with oil changes regularly done every 3-4k. I have had ZERO issues with mine. These things are bulletproof
