yup and how your mom and dad have a very detailed discussion about whether the food is good or not and if this restaurant is better than all the other indian restaurants you've been to. Idk if my family's just picky, but that happens every single time

As someone who works in an Indian restaurant, all the above things are true.😂😂😂😂😂😂 loved the video. Especially "I know the owner" part. People come and act like they are besties with the owner and ask for discounts.

It’s a thing for real, although no asking of discounts from my experience. My ex who is Punjabi introduced me to the owner of the Indian resto we’re at, whose a Nepalese that grew up in India 😂😂

I worked at an Indian restaurant and I can say that some of this is definitely true.

I’m 25 y/o and been a follower since I was 16 can u imagine. I’ve been on a nostalgie marathon watching all her videos from a long time ago cause it truly reminded me of a good period in my life, CZcams has changed a lot and lost the desire to watch it honestly with all these new genres, and now I feel like going back to my teen self. I used to be obssessed with her (still love her so much), I remember her launching her first app and hijacked my phone to get it on it haha (I used to live In Africa and had to change settings to New Zealand I think) I remember her first command with the trios of American you tubers man it was truly a golden age for me, her content is soo genuine and high quality. I hope she will continue and not let it down. Cause she works for herself and she is creative asf, and I like that more than anything, cause I feel like the new genres of flex culture and cancel culture are so toxic, I’ve seen channels grow solely from making content on others and I don’t like it, I like the old days and I truly hope it will be back. She is the only one who stayed true and authentic to herself

That judgement of the way food is prepped is too real, Lilly. I feel like that can apply to any restaurant serving dishes based on the regions your family may come from. Authenticity in that regard is always key when going to such spots. But, what gave me the biggest laugh in this was the moment of the bill paying turning into a competitive sport, LOL! Your boy Chase was pretty funny as the announcer for that. Definitely experienced a few of those being out to dinner with the family. You gave us another good one here though, Lilly. Almost all immigrants, feeling a cultural squeeze in America, produce "experts," feeling the need to educate others in what is "authentic." This isn't Indian culture for Indians. This is Indian-American culture, for a broadly American audience. It's the same for Italians, Mexicans, Japanese, and Germans. They will tell a restaurant owner how things were wherever they came from, as if it matters, no matter how great the food ends up being.
The referee bit is VERY true in Ireland. My family literally race each other to the restaurant counters to pay for the meal.
