IFS 2023: Putting People First to Advance Sustainable Development Panel

At this year’s Impact Fellowships Summit (IFS), GHC curated a virtual plenary panel on “Putting People First to Advance Sustainable Development”. Moderated by Roshan Paul of IREX, the conversation featured practitioners and funders working across health, education, and government: Jean Rene Shema of GHC, Anne Marie Burgoyne of Emerson Collective, Caren Wakoli of Emerging Public Leaders, and Azad Oommen of Global School Leaders.
This session explored the IFS community’s shared belief that equipping proximate leaders can catalyze more equitable and sustainable development outcomes. The speakers drew on case studies from around the world, highlighting successful examples of people-first development initiatives and the challenges they encountered along the way!
