  • This piece comes from a collection of 150 versets, Op. 407, composed by Alexandre Bruneau. Bruneau was born in Berry, France and served as organist of Bourges Cathedral and was a professor of music at l'École Normale de Bourges for several decades. Bruneau was a recipient of the Croix d'officier d'Acadamie for his contributions to music. Many of his works can be downloaded for free from IMSLP.org.
Played on the sample set for the Aristide Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Èglise de la Sainte-Madeleine in Paris, France. The organ was installed in 1846. It is accommodated in a low cabinet in Italian renaissance style that is partly from gilded wood. Many famous organists have held the post of the organiste titulaire or organiste supplémentaire at this church, among them Fessy, Lefébure-Wély, Saint-Saëns, Dubois, and Fauré. And some of the supplementary organists were Charles-Marie Widor, Eugène Gigout, and Nadia Boulanger.
Unfortunately, this sample set only includes a limited number of stops from the original organ. Sample set by Pipeloops.

Hi, thank you for you kind comment. It's an interesting, dark and moody piece from a composer who is new to me. His works are quite interesting so far. Thanks for listening.

I enjoy your videos. I had a wonderful collection of organ sheet music I donated when I moved across country. Now I am having to repurchase. Can you suggest a collection with this in it that can be purchased? Thank you.

I downloaded this collection from IMSLP.org, I think. I'm not sure if this music is even in print any longer. It would be nice to have brand new, crisp sheet music for this because the online scanned music is not of high quality, unfortunately.
