I think the most scary thing is that they probably don't have to be psychopaths. I think it is better to recognize that not every Nazi was a psychopath, so we can learn about human weakness in others and ourselves to prevent this from ever happening again.

@@alanabeaumont2650 It's crazy to think how people can be ok with doing this. Did most people not know about it and only the people who controlled the camps know about it? It's still a lot of people who guarded the camps and they definitely would know about it.

I didn't realize how MUCH touring Auschwitz was on my bucket list until I went to Krakow on business. I checked a map to realize that it was less than an hour's bus ride from the city. I took a long walking tour with a young Polish woman who was third generation of a Polish family who had been forced to work at Auschwitz in varied capacities. She was highly knowledgeable and literally spat out her monologue as we walked. At one point I drew close to her and asked her WHY she did this. "Because as long as I live, people will NEVER forget what happened here." She was not about to allow any deniers among people she knew. I was in these very rooms as well as many others, some of which they preferred that we remain silent and not even take photos, although photos were allowed in this chamber. I cried and cried. That was far and away the most important thing that happened to me open my trip to Krakow.

It sickens me to think that hundreds of thousands of people walked in there, and never walk out. It sickens me to see that concrete floor and walls where they were all crammed in together and had their last breath. But what mostly sickens me, is that those ovens were made and used to get rid of the bodies. It was purely built to find the fastest and cheapest way to kill as many as possible. We should never forget those horrors and what mankind is capable of doing to one another. The waste of human life, and opportunity is the worst of all!! Think how many brilliant minds and talanted individuals were simply just gassed and burned. So sad!!!
