Trip hop at its finest. Dummy is one of the best album ever released (and I'm usually a metal kind of guy).
Same here. Was a metal head as a teenager myself, but this record was something special and got me hooked from the first time I heard it.
Ah I miss the ninetys .portishead is one of favorite band. Specially dummy album 😊
I was more of an r&b/rap top 40 kind of person and my art biology teacher thought i'd like it because of the dj scratches. Mr. P wasn't wrong. Top album ever.
Same with the metal thing, but Dummy, and Nick Cave and PJ Harvey gave me something more. Dummy is a fucking classic.
Respect
Portishead's Trip-Hop is simply one of the best the 90's have given us.
Beth is a rare talent that never received the credit she deserved
Give her time !
The genre is called Trip-Hop, coming from Bristol. Initiated by the Wild Bunch with pioneers like Massive Attack, Portishead and Tricky.
Morcheeba is also pretty good
I saw Portishead when they toured the US for their second LP ('98 maybe?) and it was probably the best show I've ever seen. I've NEVER heard better sound; their setup was completely custom, and the cabinets were all sorts of weird Tetris-like shapes. Rumor had it they were blowing curcuit breakers at the smaller clubs they were going to at the time. They nailed every song and Beth probably smoked two packs of cigarettes over the course of the 2 hour show. Unforgettable show, unbelievable band.
55 year old british rock and metal head and this album will always be in my top ten all time favourite albums...its never off my playlist...
This is from 1994 it's a Trip -Hop classic R.I.P. to Issac Hayes that's the instrumental sample their using from his classic song " Ike's Rap 2"
The genre is Trip Hop. Portishead, Massive Attack, and Zero 7 owned this genre in the 90's and 2000's
I know she´s only 20 but it´s weird that she hasn´t heard of Trip Hop
I dont know Zero 7 but I am gonna add Morcheeba to that list if you dont mind.
@@LunaticReason A good call. I see your Morcheeba and raise you 1 Sneaker Pimps
What about tricky
Roads (Live At Roseland) will blow your mind.
early 2000s? almost early 90s..
and beth gibbons has always been amazing..
Spent all my teenage years on acid listening to these guys, Massive Attack, Tricky etc. Amazing genre.
Portishead is pure art! 🤩
YES!!! PORTISHEAD!!!! Their album Dummy is one of my top albums by anyone ever.
Yup, Portishead is one of the most sampled groups ever. Sour Times is one of those songs that you don't know that you've heard everywhere. Movie trailors, tv shows, movies, etc.
It’s called triphop…The entire Roseland show is amazing, highly recommend Roads from this show. Portishead paved the way for the bands you mentioned, check out Massive Attack and Sneaker Pimps
Ooo, you liked Portishead! Awesome. Awesome band, hope you get to vibe to them some more!
Thank you for releasing this one😀, I spent summer holidays in Portishead growing up (way before the band) which is why i started listening to them this is my favourite track especially this version with orchestra and longer guitar solo.
The genre is called Trip-hop. Another frankly awesome example is Massive Attack, particularly their album Mezzanine. Greatest chill out album of all time.
If you like this I would listen to “Angel” or “Teardrop” by massive attack
As a former smoker, I'm kind of in awe at how she can have such a clear voice and such breath control...
Tricky/Massive Attack/Portishead have created such an important space...
Welcome to mid-to-late ‘90s trip-hop, born you might say in Britain, I can’t remember the name of the town. But it spawned the biggest trip-hop acts, such as Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead. Apparently as a unique genre its time was short-lived; a pity. I like it enough that I’d want this style of music to never die.
Portishead and Sarah McLachlan were two of my favorites in the late 90's
A whole lounge of us, wasted, listened to Dummy on repeat for 10 or 11 hours non stop one night after banging a club. Perfect windown music
If you like this one, I recommend you to check out "Roads" from the same live gig.
The entire concert is amazing
Love that all her references are... after Glory Box. All of those things are very Portishead/Trip Hop... not the other way around.
🌀🌀🌀🙏🙏🙏 thank you for Portishead!
I own this concert on DVD (yes, a DVD in this day and age) and it is amazing. I strongly recommend any songs from this live set, or anything from the Dummy Album. sooo sooo good
Great choice. Both Dummy and Massive Attack's Mezzanine were constants for me when they came out.
I still remember staying in to watch INXS in 94 on later with Jools Holland and being enraptured by this new Band called Portishead. Dummy hasn’t aged a day in 30 years and I’m surprised that the producers of James Bond never came calling.
The genre is trip hop. Very popular in the mid 90s.
Portishead, Morcheeba, Hooverphonic... the list goes on.
she should review roseland's performance of "sour times". that was a whole different ballpark for me.
Beth Gibbons is out with a new solo album may 17
The full consent is perfect
smoking while singing - a real artist
Why they never did a bond theme blows my mind.
the genre is trip hop. came out of Bristol uk in the 90's
Trip pop liké Massive attack it's beautiful it's british it's brillant this album was like a bomb 1994
Love the purple highlights in the hair,, Rachel.
Yes .... she can do whatever she wants....she helped to create this.......
Gotta do 'Strangers' from this gig - marvellous
Never heard such a sultry scratch as all throughout this album/session.
This is my favorite live album of all time. Check out some Tricky or Massive Attack if you want some more sweet trip hop vibes.
I am vibing right with you Rachael.
Portishead is soo good, One of the best concerts i ever been to was Portishead in Stockholm 1998
I was there. It was lovely
Such a trippy song for a woman saying she's tired of playing and wants a husband :)
Great reaction, señorita. “All mine” by Portishead, please. And the Rip. Keep on keeping on and Gritos from Tejas.
Memories of wild times...
Fantastic !!
3:37 that's the '90s baby 😅
There's a lot of Twentysomethings in this world who owe their existence to Portishead... or Morcheeba :))
1994 was a good year ❤️
I bought this when it first came out. It blew me away! (This is odd, I know) it was soooo good to me that I couldn't listen to it a second time for a while. I'm weird like that, same thing happened when I listen to The Mars Volta-"Frances the Mute album.
Love this band
2:44
The genre is Trip Hop
Love that you check out more underrated stuff.... 'roads' by portishead is also really awesome
I know this is a reaction video, but enjoy and feel the music and talk afterwards instead of disturbing it.
Trip Hop pioneers from Brixton UK
Portishead is easily on the Mt Rushmore of trip-hop and Roseland is one of the best live albums of the mid 90s. Check out Hooverphonic for your channel. Esp "2Wicky" and "Inhaler"
Hey just wanted to let you know that Imminence dropped their new album “The Black” a few days ago. This is how the album is breaded down.

2. Desolation
3. Heaven Shall Burn
4. Death by a Thousand Cuts

Dope indeed :)
I recommend Poe. Check out "Hello", or "Angry Johnny", or "Hey Pretty", or "Haunted." or or.......
Great song! I love Portishead. You should also check out Wandering Star, Biscuit, Sour Times, and Roads.
Brilliant!
If you liked that probably also dig
The Cranberries "Zombie" 😉
Alright, let's go: In the first place you can see the context of this song, a woman who has suffered several disappointments in love and is trying to move on alone and seeing Beth Gibbons with a cigarette in her hand and smoking live on stage was unprecedented in live shows it was unprecedented, at least for me, I don't know for those of you who are reading this comment, anyway the music and the reaction were magnificent as always and you are always beautiful Rachael, if I could recommend a song I would The Call of The Mountains by the band Eluveltie, it's an excellent song and I think you'll like it and that's all Rachael, keep up the work you're doing and greetings from Brazil to you! 💚💛💚💛
You should react to Roads from the same concert. Unreal!
Definitely trip hop
It's Trip Hop
Oh, if we're doing Portishead... check out Hooverphonic.
Trip hop
You want chill, trip hop vibes like Portishead? Check out Massive Attack. Specifically the track Dissolved Girl
This is trip hop there is no BIG drop haha
sour times live next!
sigh.....one of the bands that defined trip Hop
Наконец то реакция на хорошую песню. Сколько же мусора до этого пришлось переслушать бедной Ray. Послушай еще что нибудь у Hooverphonic
Сейчас все СЖВ-шизики наверное бы начали отменять Портишу за такие строки - Just want to be a woman.
actually portished was one of those bands who inspired Akira Yamaoka to created silent hill ost by the way Rachel has been so anxious to talk too much that she had to talk over the song today but is ok lol.
This song gives me James Bond 🤓
Like this? Do 90's era Everything But The Girl next.
Next reaction sleeping with sirens please.🙏
As controversial as it might sound, i heard that many vocalists smoked to get a bit more rasp in their voices.
Look, is it just me who looked at the thumbnail of the Rayactions video and I think she looks a lot like Rachael?
Dream Theater - Hollow years please..
This is early 90's and it's "trip hop"!
React to stmlt - twilight
Roads from same concert
you can tell she is a perfectionist lol
Are you reacting to foreign music as well?
React to Jeff Buckley: lover you shouldn't have come over live
Please, react snuff - slipknot (Corey taylor acustic)
yo
You have no idea. Why is trip hop not recognized as a genre... yeah theres a full orchestra because they were renowned enough to play at the roseland live after one album.
Reacciona a Bullet For My Valentine - Curses. Porfavor te lo suplico
Silent Hill
Roads is definitely their best. That is a thing of such delicate, haunting beauty I just can't ...
Agreed will always be their greatest track
Do you need to talk through every second of the performance? Amazed you can react to it if you don't listen to it.
She has a new album out soon. Unlike Portishead, 3 studio albums in 30 years.
What does Grey's Anatomy have to do with it. Just listen! It's a time capsule for you. I lived it in real time.
I guess she actually heard about one third of the song because she talked over the rest but that's what you get with regurgitated twitch "content".
Its mid-90's Trip-Hop if you need a box to put it in. Its hard for people to get the vibe if you talk to much. Advice not criticism.
Keep your twitch reactions on twitch, they obviously don't mind you talking over the whole song
