You look at him here in Feb. 1974, and then at the canyon in Sept. 1974, and then in October '75 at King's Island....this is a man who aged 15-20 years in 18 months.
he couldve worked a 9-5 job & scraped by like the rest of us , ..... Maybe he wouldve lived an additional 10 years ... but no- He went for the Gold & like he said .... He lived the life of Kings in a Kingdom and left a legacy, and here we are 45 years later talking about him still.
Yes. This was at Green Valley Raceway in Texas. That landing ramp was 54 feet long and he landed right at the bottom of it. Keep in mind, this was on a H/D XR-750 flat track & TT bike, weighting over 300 lbs. (295 dry at.), with only about 4 inches of suspension travel. Compression/fracture of the back would not be uncommon....brutal landing.
I disagree. Do you remember the 1970s ? We had three television networks and maybe if we got lucky the paper would arrive that day. He traveled and performed all over the world I can't imagine that anyone younger than forty or so years old can possibly conceive of how big a deal this was. Even in the world stage he came someone calls to Muhammad Ali status.
What a bad ass.He was not afraid to die.The USA was a better place with evel in it.

Given all this, the Wembley crash in 1975, all the rest, no wonder. Plus he partied really really really hard during all of this.
The man had guts. Gotta give him that.
Our small neighborhood gathered at our house since we had the best color TV at the time, for the Snake River jump.
It was a HUGE event!
evel knievel had balls of steel and had no fear of anything.......the man was a legend of the daredevils a true showman of Butte Montana xx

He was a gladiator; courageous.
All American BADASS. RIP Evel!

Just watched Viva Kinevel via Rifftrax last night, Evel was pretty good at the whole handing out in bed thing ;)
This was after he hurt his back jumping over 11 Mack Trucks on Wide World of Sports. He landed long

The jump was on wide world of sports. He was interviewed by Howard Cosell after the jump,Evel said "Howard my back hurts".
If Evel cracked a frame weld on his bike, in the interview he'd say he broke the bike in half. King of daredevil showmanship!
Elvis broke every bone in Evel Knievel’s body
I was a huge Knievel fan when I was young. Now I look back and wonder what the hell he was thinking. At the end of his life even he wondered.

@Matt·Dylan You couldn't be more right, Matt.
He was loving the ( Fame and Fortune)
Still.. I saw him live. It was absolutely spectacular, believe you me.
