I bought a near new rm250 in 1986 and it was a beautiful piece of gear, It probably wasn't the fastest 250 but it was the most ride-able, It was only a couple of month old when I purchased it, it had been a practice bike for a local works rider, it didn't have the raw power of the Yamaha with the power valve but it was an awesome bike to ride, smooth and a nice feel.

@Mike Fernandez No I was on a Yamaha 125 in 80 and 81. Mid way through 81 Yamaha offered me support to ride the 250 class as well as the 125 so I stayed with them. 82 it was 250 only for the most part but I did race the open class too for some of the big CMC and CRC series. After seeing what the factory guys at Honda were riding in 82 the writing was on the wall that in 83 that's what you would want to be riding. I was pumped.
