That deer for sure was hurt, stumbled, and snapped his own neck on the far bank of that ditch lol. Talk about a lucky break. Beautiful buck.

What an incredible two part series. As a public land and permission hunter I often envy the guys that have a couple hundred of acres of incredible whitetail habitat but it just goes to show, whitetail hunting can have ups and downs no matter where or how you hunt and theres no easy way out. It's all about time, effort, and some luck. I really appreciated how humble Lee was and hearing Josh say there's no one more deserving speaks volumes. Congratulations to everyone involved, it was a heck of a story!

You guys do it right! Congrats on one hell of a deer. Nobody writes the story lines like you guys do. You share every aspect of the hunt with us, it’s all about the journey and the chase and respect for the animal.

Most of my best, cleanest kills have been off the cuff like that. Granted, that's usually been with a rifle (and my first archery buck this year), but it helps if you don't have time to get nervous!

Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. Not sure on how true this is and was once said to me years ago, if you ever notice when you shoot a big mature buck in the middle or later portion of the rut, they go down quick. They are so exhausted from chasing and breeding, hit em with a broad head and they go down. Ever since I was told that, sure as heck it has been spot on. Great work fellas. Proud of y'all. Held this deer's rack in my hands last month and met Lee. True giant.
Congratulations super buck. You deserved that buck. Hunted hard and got rewarded. I’m 70 been deer hunting since I was 14. I have got some 140’s and one 165 in Kentucky. Just had a great season killing two nine pointers, but I’ve never seen one that big. Again congrats, Josh I still miss Bill but your doing a great job.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. It happens bruh... best medicine is to get back in the stand and sling another arrow.
Aim for the lungs brings them down faster with more room for error.
The era of the large cutting diameter heads.. if you get a pass through any where in a deer’s body cavity they’re toast, it’s just a matter of giving them the right amount of time to expire. The shots that don’t yield a recovery are either bone, fat (no man’s land), or simply not enough penetration.
