  • Welcome to the latest MoDXtra: Games & Collectibles action figure review. In this instalment we're taking a look at the G.I. Classified Series Scrap Iron & Anti-Armor Drone figures from the latest wave.
This guy is a BEAST of a set. Scrap Iron has been one of many eye-catching reveals during Hasbro Pulse fan-streams of days gone by and its exciting to finally have him in-hand as part of the Classified collection here at MoDXtra Games & Collectibles.
This review will involve a brief unboxing of Scrap Iron and his Drone, an overall view of the figure, and then some detailed thoughts around his aesthetic, articulation, and accessories. (My action figure review Triple A's LOL) How well is his burn scarring sculpted? Is Scrap Iron unique enough amongst the Cobra rank & file? Does the drone make brews as well as firing rockets? Do the pair make for a great bit of GI Joe Classified display-action, or do they seem a bit bland and motionless? All the most important questions answered...
Its exciting to be getting back to some GI Joe Classified on the channel, and its my hope that if you've been thinking of picking up a Scrap Iron & Drone of your own my thorough review will help you make your decision.
    YO JOE!

They're a lot of fun. I don't think I've got my head fully around them quite yet, but I like the added value for sure.

Water based polyurethane or "polycrylic" will fix up those loose joints! Just a drop or two, then work the joint so the liquid makes its way in. Come back to it a couple of times while it dries and work the joint again. It should dry slowly and add some friction as it does. If you find that the top piece of the drone is dragged down from the weight of the effects, or even just the missiles, you might put a couple drops in the socket there, as well.
As always, an excellent review! I am champing at the bit for this new wave to hit my doorstep. With any luck, Rock 'N Roll will be here in a couple of days and tide me over!

Great looking figure but it's a shame that his drone's tracks don't move.... I guess if it did the cost would have been really more expensive.... I would suggest you try KiKi Fix Loose Joints... It drys clear and can be applied til it stiff the loose joints

Legend. I'll check the KiKi out for sure. :)

Get you a can of Krylon (..5547) flat crystal clear spray! This spray works really good for taking care of a shiny face, shirt or etc. on an action figure!

Thanks! Shiny shirts are my bug bear! Especially on Classified - it stands out so much to me on their sculpts.

Rinky Dink Drone...and Scrap Iron is just on the lower end of the Cobra hierarchy...somehow I think Croc Master is a better overall experience. Thanks for a comprehensive review..I think im cancelling this one and Rock n Roll. Hard to believe when I used to be all in on Classified but Hasbro has more or less taken a lot of what made the line special and changed it to be unrecognizable...hope its on Amazon Discount by October...At $35 I'll bite.

I'm glad my review helped you make up your mind on these David. While I sense we disagree on the product overall from your comments, it's good to know that my review suits the fanboys like me AND those on the fence. You're right about the price for sure - I feel like Scrap Iron isn't a 45er and much more a 35er as the drone hasn't blown me away. I do really love the head sculpt tho.
In any case - thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate you man:)

Scrap irons face looks great with the scarring. The rocket launcher has a lot to like in that, I’m guessing a little black matte spray and tone that shininess down a bit. The tracks need some distress painted in but overall it’s nice!!
    Great review!!

Thanks Vern. Sadly - I’m not much of one for doing much brush ups/paint jobs/improvements etc, but I’m on the cusp of taking the dive so this could be a good starting point. The face sculpt is something else though, I’m really into it. Barmy good!

@@MoDXtraGC done use enamel paints on figures (use acrylic) if you do any painting. the plastic is different than for models.

I read the gun is a Kel-Tec CP33, or a very close approximation thereof.

Same. Someone else more familiar than me pointed it out, and I had to look it up and eyeball it.

Good set but a little disappointed with the static drone. For the price point hasbro clearly cheaped out instead of more added articulation which was clearly possible for them to do. Maximum profits, less plastic.

    • @MoDXtraGC
      @MoDXtraGC  Před rokem

Yep, I’m feeling it too. The drone is fun, and there’s lots to like about it, but there feels like it’s just fallen 10% short, y’know?
That said - I have found myself playing with it a fair bit since it arrived, so I’ve not found it so bothersome in the grand scheme. Like you say: it’s a value thing.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for taking the time to comment 🤘🏼
