  • In this video I review the GI Joe Classified Retro Cobra Snow Serpent by Hasbro. I’ll compare him to the O-Ring and the deluxe one. I look at his paint, color, articulation and accessories.

    Totaly agree! Retro should come with original kits

      Agreed! They missed a chance to sell an equal amount of Eels (to the first release) by giving the figure retro gear. Same for any retro that only changes a paint app, if we're lucky.

    I agree, this one being a "Retro" is goofy. They should have either gave us the classic accessories, or just packaged it as a regular Classified figure like they did with the Cobra Trooper/Infantry. Calling it a retro, but not using the classic gear, ends up just adding a slight bit of disappointment to the effort. I am glad to get a basic Snow Serpent though. I hated having to pay extra for all the stuff I'm never going to use with the first version, like the snow board and wolf pelt.
    By the way, I haven't tried it on the Snow Serpent FAMAS rifle yet, but the slot the bipod clips into on Dusty's rifle is the same size as the connection point on the Valaverse FN EVOLYS machine gun bipod (weapons pack Echo). So, I was able to replace the bipod with the collapsed bipod from the EVOLYS. It makes for a more slimmer profile, and the bipod can be folded up out of the way when the figure is holding it. It's not a huge thing, but it does look good. You'd probably have top heat up the Snow Serpent rifle, since it's stiffer plastic than Dusty's rifle. Just thought I'd mention that for anyone that may be interested.
    Great review!

    I can’t believe they didn’t give him the retro stuff. Cool review, you really get some good poses with your figures.

    I like Dusty's rifle and the fact they put a a grip under the barrel.

    I agree with you on the retro needs like his original weapons and gear they fail to provide.

      It’s a gripe I know, but that is what you are selling people in. They already have my money, it’s the other people they need to get.

  • @shovelchop81bikeralex52

    Ironically the real FAMAS's trigger guard flips out of the way for Artic use with gloves! LOL.

    I agree that the retro card figures should come with retro weapons/accessories and all the retro card figures shown on the back. Also for classified I actually love the art that came with classified Snow Serpent, Grunt etc but action figures look best in a window box. So I think they should go for the middle ground and have slip covers with the beautiful artwork so we can enjoy that and then you have the option to remove the slip cover and see the figure behind the plastic window (like Super 7 Ultimates). That would be cool in my opinion.

    The MARK2 accessory kit looks great in this fig, worth picking up at least one even though the accessories cost more than the actual figure.

    I preordered this from Amazon, hope to get it soon... I wanted the mortar from the original one, but I guess I can order one... This guy is a classic.

    Looks like a spot on representation of the retro figure to me. The loadout should've been the same, but...I feel like anyone collecting Classified at this point has an armory of additional weapons, and it really doesn't do anything to reduce my level of satisfaction with this release. I think they handled the character just as they should have -- deluxe version with extra gear and a more muted color scheme that feels like a really unique take when you kit it out all the way; and, a stripped down version at a regular price point that is basically a dead ringer for the original figure. I agree with everyone about the weapons, it just doesn't bother me. The deluxe version is an outstanding figure, I assume this will be too once it's in hand.

    Good review. I received one of my 3 today(ordered from separate sites) and I’m really pleased with it….I like this retro color scheme better than the deluxe figure and I do like that Classified deluxe figure, just the retro royal blue really pops and I really like the FAMAS he comes with and love the goggles….. very solid figure and mine doesn’t have any QC issues either

    I like this figure but why did hasbro give him Dusty's gun. They should have gave him the AK that the Cobra Officer has.🤔

    The unique guns and accessories were just as important to the character back in the old days. If they are going to call these retro then please fulfill that promise and represent the figure along with correct accessories accurately. Instead of lazy re use of other characters weapons and accessories.

      Pulse hardly gets the things first, wouldn’t be much of an incentive for companies to carry Joe’s if Pulse just got everything first.

    The classified retro line is so very hit and miss. Some figures Go full retro like gung-ho and others barely scrape the service of retro like eels and snow serpent. I really wish they would pick a lane and stay in it.

      I feel like it’s new and they have Classified ones that look almost identical so they don’t know what to do.

    • @Stygian360
      @Stygian360 Před 5 dny

      @@Apunkwithtoys I think it really comes down to cost. They only have so much money to allocate on a separate line so in some cases they can allocate to more accessories and a deeper dive on the Retro look, and in other cases either they don't have the money or they're afraid to deviate too far from what succeeded the first time it sold

  • @Hurricanelive
    @Hurricanelive Před 6 dny

    They do need to take from the budget somewhere, even if it's reduce 1 figure a year and do classic loadout, just put out an entire mold of accurate weapons/gear. Imo Hasbro screwed up both versions halfway, they need to stick to one version, accurate load outs and accurate decos, instead of just always half arsing it. Majority of classified are practically retro to begin with. A multi-billion-dollar company cannot re-release a figure in box that few people got in the first place, or release it toy accurate, let alone load out accurate. Which is why I will never touch retro even if it were free. No way I'd army build anything for $25 let alone $20.

      I think you're missing out. It's a great figure, and the deco on this version is almost exactly like the OG figure.

    It's pretty obvious why the Classified snow Serpent is different, snowboard and modern accessories. The Retro misses the mark for me not being Retro. Pass on both.

  • @soxcade2434

    Pretty disapointed in the obvious lazy attempt to make the retro Snow Serpent and Eels. Plain and simple money grab. Retro should have the retro accessories.
