Such an amazing golfer and so astute. Watching Gen is almost as good as playing. She is so honest and fun. I hope the best for her. I would like to see a 9 done with one ball from the tips and another from the forward tees. That way we would see the different ways you could approach the same hole using different choices to score.

Played a practice round with a TLPGA pro, she played her tournament tees which were on average white tee distance and her accuracy was impeccable with irons not to mention never missing a fairway.
Accomplished woman! So much wanting you to migrate to Australia. How about making Patierrie or learning a trade - plumbing? You will certainly be good at that!
I can play upto 6500 yards at age 59. We only have 3 tees here, Competition, Mens and Ladies. The Competition tees are restriced to competitions only on many courses so my tee choice is just 1. In Thailand there are 5 tees and I will pick a set depending on when the last thunderstorm was. 6000 is plenty if it rained hard yestrerday. I only carry the driver 225 - 235 so I need roll out. It would be nice if we had the same choice of tees over here.
When my friend was first learning golf, he kept on wanting to play from the black tees (tips). I had to convince him otherwise, but he had a great response, "I can score 100+ from any tee box."

Great challenge you gave yourself. IMO moving to forward tees is never a guarantee of lower scores.

A better comparison would've been playing the same 9, once from the forward tees, then once from the back tee and compare the scoring.

Front 9, 395m par 5, def birdie chance, make a 5, slight disappointment. Back 9, 18th hole 401m par 4, tap in par, cheated out of birdie lol, not disappointed. Golf will do your head in.

For most playing from the Tips is ‘value’ golf-more shots for the money-provided there aren’t any forced carries over alligator infested swamp to lose balls into.
Is this really a thing? 😅 I feel like you’d have much more fun scoring well then jsut trying to hit as many shots as you can cause you paid the green fees though haha

@@GenevieveLingGolf In another 20-25 years you will understand. The challenge I find the silly game is training mind and body to hit great shots but as one ages the distance one can do that decreases off the tee with Driver. I was in the US Foreign Service learned to play in 1983 at age 31 in the Philippines with a caddy on my bag the first four years. I didn’t play more than 20 rounds a year until 2008 when I was retired from the day job and took a part time job as a course starter at a public course for the perk of unlimited range balls and rounds. With daily range sessions and the luxury of nearly daily solo practice rounds during times when the course was empty I learned to shape and place shots pretty well and mange the course layout like pro does. I focused more on tee-to-green than putting because I was concerned more with improving my skill level and ability to concentrate and ‘keep my head in the game’ which is a real challenge for me playing social golf.
Because I’m an introvert I played my best golf during solo practice rounds and came to realize golf was for me best enjoyed as match play between me and the SOB who designed the course, so why not just play match play against the course were like Chess par is a draw and Birdie or better a win against all the punitive defenses the designer put in my path? Stroke play is soul crushing when you are shooting under par mid round and one bad shot result in a high score on one hole. But with match play against the course with birdie or better needed to win there is no reason expectation of winning the war (birdie on 10 of the 18 holes) but so I savor the victories hole by hole, forget the defeats and measure success by how many of the holes I do manage par or better.
At age 72 I would rather try to hit a hard high draw to a back left pin on a right to left angled green with a 33% success rate than hitting it dead straight and be lucky to keep it on the short sided green like my playing partners, all younger, who only have straight shots in their bag and no imagination. They beat me in stroke play rounds but I don’t care if I’m on my game and executing the more difficult shots I play at least half the time.
