most of the audiences that came to listen to Jesus preach were looking to be fed food and to witness miracles. They were curious. Sadly, most of Israel rejected Jesus as ' the messiah ' and God later put them in spiritual blindness to give the Gospel to the Gentiles. Jesus originally came to the Circumcision, the jews to fulfill the promise of the Reign of Christ but Israel rejected him. Israel has mostly been a nation of unbelief. But, God, has a Covenant with Israel and one day, soon, they'll go back into the last 7 years of the Prophecy, and be back UNDER THE LAW, instead of Grace and after the Tribulation, Jesus will return as King of Kings, Lord of Lords and establish his eternal Kingdom that will be based in Jerusalem. The the uninitiated you can read and exegete this passage of scripture out of context, throw some jokes in there, appeal to there sinful nature and make it sound like Jesus is okay with people just sinning, or make it all about them sinning (6 more feet)! Jesus is not, which is why he always say go and sin no more, or starts/ends His sermons/parables with repent (meaning a change of mind, to change the way you think), Because as a man thinks so is he. Jesus in this chapter is rebuking the religious teachers (not Church folk, the Church had not been established yet) for not rejoicing when sinners come to repentance. This is also a parallel of how gods are to pastor if they receive the gift of pastorship (not office, but gift). Because Pastor means shepherd it means to take care of, this is why he told Simon Peter (the rock on which he built his Church) if you love me, feed (take care of) my sheep. Luke 15, this is how you do it. Pastors just as YHWH came for you, if one of your sheep start to stumble, or if they leave and you don't go after them and show them that you love them and care for them, you have failed in your gift. Or perhaps that is not the gift YHWH gave you, men cannot appoint pastors only YHWH can do that.

Good speech. But Wright is mistaken about Jesus being a "poor black man". Jesus was neither black nor poor. The very definition of who Jesus was discredits him from ever being "poor". He could eat any time he desired, he had shelter always available and he wore good clothing. Jesus had influential and rich friends to look after him. Does any of this sound like the lifestyle of a "poor man"? Hence, because of readily access to these resources.. Jesus fed 5,000 people with a miracle. He turned water into wine at a wedding. He often stayed with friends. After the crucifixion the soldiers squabbled over his clothing, particularly his coat which had no seams.. sewn from end to end. A sign of good quality. It was a rich friend who asked for his body so it could be placed in a freshly dug cave where no one else had been placed. A "poor man" would have been thrown in a hole and buried in dirt. And nearly 100 lbs of aloe (a pain killer) and other spices were brought to the cave. No, Jesus (Greek for Joshua) was not a poor man. As for black, no where does the bible say he was black.
