      I use to live in San Diego on and off for years and heard about Adam through a few friends, but never took a lesson. I don't take lessons anymore, but if I move back to SD I'm going to see Adam. I just come on here and take the info and apply some of it to my swing. I'm a 5 handicap hoping one day to get down to a scratch. I've learned more here about the golf swing than anywhere else. This info about the set-up is gold. Think about how much better everyone would be at golf if they could eliminate all the issues BEFORE they take the club back.

    Can we get more vids from amateurs like this understanding everything you teach? Takeaway, set position, and top of backswing would be great for the next parts! I'm currently trying to figure out what happens in the transition between the takeaway and the set position. Also when does the lifting of the arms happen? When does the right arm start to curl/ fold?

      From takeaway to set… you just keep pushing away with the left shoulder.
      Arms never “lifting”. Again just keep pushing away … it’s a turn to the top.
      Right arm curls from set to the top.

    For years I have struggled with a swing that is too flat (saved by a good short game I managed at times to get down to a 5 handicap), in this video Adam explains so well how to set up so to create room to make a more upright swing. Adam's explanation of a good set up is so clear and using his checklist I now set up with weight more on the balls of the feet, hips over ankles, shoulders 4" outside the line of the feet and the trail elbow positioned correctly and suddenly the ball comes off the face of the club with a different sound and I am hitting twice as many fairways and greens and not having to rely on my short game to scramble so much!
    Using Adam's hip bump as a swing trigger has also helped me to slow my swing down to a more rhythmic pace and has at last allowed me to hold the finish of my swing. I now use the Todd Sones set up before each full shot and I can at last trust my swing, thank you Porzak Golf and thank you Adam!

    After hundreds or possibly thousands of instructional videos, this is the first one I’ve seen where someone takes a lesson then goes on cam and describes exactly how it helps their game. Including score as well as first time breaking 80. A lot of those other coaches are mat jockeys.

    Adam, you are arguably the best coach on CZcams. Everything makes sense. After 5 years of weekend golf, I have given up on everything I was doing with my swing and now applying your wisdom. However, my contact is mostly happening near the hozzle and not the center. Please advise.

    This video is incredible. One of the biggest issues with my swing has been too much lateral movement on the backswing, and pressure getting to the outside of the trail foot. I've misunderstood the hip bump as well. This video explains everything really clearly. Thanks!

    @stevengarcia6901 Před rokem +2

    @porzakgolf what is a good reference point for your irons on shaft lean. Should it stay neutral to spine or have the shaft/grip pointing at the left hip?

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před rokem +2

      I like the club being gripped perpendicular to your feet. This keeps the club square. It’s ok to have a slight press, by slight I mean no more than an inch. Make sure not to take your grip with it pushed forward though because then you will surely grip the club with a shut face.

    Have been using this setup and had too much weight forward, swing analysis showed from DTL my head was moving back to regain balance as soon as I started backswing.
    Love the Porzak method, I seem to get better results with my weight distributed evenly from heel to toe, rather than toward balls of feet though 🤔 🤷‍♂️

    I’ve always gripped it with both hands before the actual set up. I see you like the bottom hand only then top hand once set up. Is there an advantage besides distance from ball with your method, meaning does the top hand go on differently when the club is on the ground instead of in the air? I feel like it’s a stronger grip when I do it your way

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před rokem +1

      I’m cool with both hands if the drip is correct, but Caudhill’s lead hand was too weak and he was gripping it in the palm rather than the fingers. This way helps a player get more leverage!

  • @trebor5760
    @trebor5760 Před 3 měsíci

    I completely agree with this approach but when I do it with a wedge (I’m 6’4 with slightly upright clubs) my head is pretty move straight over the ball. Could this be right!

  • @markio2010

    I tried that setup. It feels crowded, it seems to encourage an over the top move and it made it difficult for me to move forward.
    Oh yeah and if the right shoulder comes out even a little i hit some shanks. A little more center stacked gives me a better view of the swing and it free up my rotation, but it flatens the swing.

  • @Dpark95
    @Dpark95 Před rokem +1

    I love the content and even the added bonus tips in the description. Does the amount of tilt from the waist vary when you're on a side-slope? I normally adjust grip and knee bend but unsure how to adjust tilt.

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před rokem +3

      When the ball is way above the feet there will be slightly less knee bend and less tilt along with choking down on the grip…when the ball is well below your feet the opposite, more flex, more tilt(like your body is an accordion 🪗 as I always say)

    I've praised many of your videos lately but you said droping the right shoulder kills the swing.
    Many top pros drop the right shoulder including Rory McIlroy (and they don't kill their swings).
    The right shoulder drops depending how far forward the butt of the club's forward at set up.
    Take a look at as many pros as you care to and then say it kills the swing
