Matt's voice is so good...just not in a live setting. These screams are done in a way to preserve his voice, whereas before his vocal training he could barely even talk to the crowd, so there's a lot of progress here. But still, his cleans are held back to the point that they sound incredibly dull, and though these screams serve a purpose, they make him sound like a frog. Someday, I hope Matt can figure his instrument out so that we may receive one hell of a Trivium live DVD :D
I am learning the same technique he is doing. It does suck when it comes to power and growling, but it is so much easier on the voice. Everyone's vocal chords are different. In time, a singer will find what works best for them.

Well on tsats he used the same scream technique as he did in ascendancy that’s why it sounds so good, he hurt his voice though, if he uses the same technique live in the studio/ a soundproofed and clear environment it sounds really odd. I think his scream will improve with the time, and obviously this may not have been the best gig vocals wise, but I still think he has improved
I think that matt just fucked yo his voice. Look at Jesse Leach after blowing up his voice and he is do much better screamer than matt...

It´s kinda obvious he doesn´t sound like back in the day but for a very good reason being him almost losing his voice. I´m happy he can sing and scream at all even if it sounds worse than before the incident.

IR1 He’s never been able to scream well otherwise he wouldn’t blow out his voice every second tour. Personally I think he should give it up altogether to preserve his clean voice cos really, if he hasn’t found a way to do it somewhat safely after 15 years I don’t have a lot of confidence he’ll find a away now
