This is not a shadowverse anime, This is watching a person playing shadowverse. They should of let the Leaders be the protagonist(Luna), league of legend is doing it right(jynx),
Well. I disagree. Haven't seen the show, so I could be wrong, but... That seemed like a really standard opener. Nothing special, not great, but not bad. Yeah the girl agreed to participate in a duel that could got her phone taken, but it feels clear from context that the guy is harrassing everyone, and she wants to prove him wrong. That may not be good enough for you, but it certainly is for me. The first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! DM might be more interesting and investing, but it also resolves it's conflict in the episode, doesn't explain anything, has an unreasonable setting, and isn't relatable. I would probably prefer this one episode, but just to say that they have their own thing, and it looks fine. From the card game shows I've seen, I'd say Buddyfight Ace is about the same level (but it has some references to the past series, so there's some extra enjoyment there), Battle Spirits Burning Soul seems about as bad (except, I guess, it actually teaches you how the play the game in it's first few episodes), Bakugan (the og, which is technically a card game) is worse, and Z/X: Ignition is just the worst. I didn't care much for Vanguard, but it starts off better than this one, I guess.

Honestly the anime SLAPS. I love it tho the first few episodes are slow I dont like the game plot or characters, BUT I dont see why they couldn't do both a kids anime and a more adult anime with the games featured characters
While I haven’t seen Shadowverse and I’m sure if this counts, as it’s more in line with OVAs than an actual anime show. But I would argue that Zenonzard is worse than this. An app card game that got an animated special and plays similar to Magic the Gathering that was recently shut down a few months ago. (Gees I wonder why?) Firstly, it only really has two full length episodes, ep 0 and 9. With ten total. With the other eight being shorts to different characters from the app we really don’t care about. The second to last one even being on an anime exclusive character that dies at the end through complications. Basically a filler episode right at the end. Secondly, the setting of the story is straight up nonsense. Human looking androids, ‘advanced’ technology such as Newspapers that can be folded while showing live footage, a VR place to play card game in with its own set of questions. And other aspect of the setting that made me ask more question than the show could ever answer. Most promptly, how can androids that look like humans with high intelligence function in human society? And, if they can take human jobs, how would that affect the world? These are never answered. Thirdly, much like Wixoss, the show doesn’t take the time to explain the rules of its card game, or anything for that matter. Not help that they only show an almost full game of it in episode 0. Fourthly, unlike Wixoss, it doesn’t make up for its lack of card game explanation with character or an interesting story. In fact, it’s ‘main’ characters are really bad and mostly stereotypical. With its ‘main’ plot of witchcraft not being touched upon enough and just coming off as complete nonsense.
Nah, Zenonzard was interesting, it did something unique for a card game anime, sure as a card game anime, I suppose it didn't do a good job, since the card games were literally the least interesting part of it all, but the anime itself had interesting characters and left me intrigued. Its a shame it all got shut down. I liked the concept. Even if it wasn't really a card game anime, just an anime that is loosely tied to the card game. Shadowverse on the other hand, althought I love the game, the anime just did nothing right.
i just watched some random dialog during duels and its just empty textbook cliches, i dont usually use the word cliches when discribing anime since you gotta draw inspiration from something but shadowerse literally feels like when you copy someones homework without having any idea what is it that you are copying the writing feels like it was written by someone with ZERO writing experience
Yo! It's me Agu-Man I have been taking a break for 2 months. An successfully moved into my new house. The thing that made Duel Monsters plot interesting compared to Shadow verse. Is the characters in DM are written to be morally empathic. Also the first episode is very flawed in Duel Monsters due to cutting manga content from Takahashi original story.

I love the card game it’s got really unique mechanics but I also think the anime universe is good as well. It’s a school life game series with supernatural elements, driven by a pretty decent cast of seventh flame members. There are far worse card game anime out there. Battle spirits is way lower than this for me. Mix master? Dinosaur king? Gag.
Vanguard is a good card game anime imo Edit: The original and g era are good. People dont like v series but i say heck its decent. The new 2nd reboot anime is more fun and less about the lore of the card game. So give it a try any series. But start from the beginning
I got into the game from the V series so idk what you mean. I have watched the original and enjoyed it but the V series isn’t trash and in my opinion helped to keep the game alive.

Im a fan of shadowverse and cygames as a whole, i play the main card game, love the switch game, love the story mode visual novel of the main game (which is pretty good in quality and story) and i must say, this anime truly is the worst. Many people in the fandom are annoyed because the actual shadowverse lore (the story mode) wasnt used here, we were hoping for it to try to adaptate the story, at least a bit of it since we have more than 200 chapters, and instead we got this cliche and boring anime that cant even explain the main plot well
Nah at least with overdress you have character development and a multi layered story, but lacks animations in fights because of that. The shadowverse anime is the complete opposite of that.
And about to anime i am telling you all with my experience i have watched over 200 anime if you guys really want to enjoy an anime then when you start whatching one don't keep any expectations Just let it surprise you and secondly dont comapare it to anyother one
Cardfight Vanguard IF is absolutely the worst, but it's also not trying to be anything good or even too promotional. But yeah Shadowverse anime kinda weak and bizarre considering the game is totally different in world and demographic
If anything, the worst thing about Shadowverse is that it commits the biggest mortal sin an anime based on a card game could possibly commit, it doesn't explain anything. You see the characters make a bunch of moves, but they never tell you what any of it means. They throw around the terms, but there's no tutorial duel or anything. They just assume every single person going into the anime has already played the game and doesn't need to be told anything. Every other card game anime I've seen at least explains its concepts. YGO didn't really do that at first, sure, but that's because the actual game didn't exist back when Duelist Kingdom premiered. And sure enough, once the game as we know it was introduced, they had an entire duel where Kaiba shows off these 'revolutionary new rules' and even explains how they work, and it's simple enough that the duel still goes at a relatively good pace. After all, the only new rule that needed to be explained was sacrificing monsters to summon high level ones, but they still did it. And every new series does just that. Because many things, like point differences and defense mode and the like are pretty self-explanatory, all they really need to do is explain the new summoning method and if they introduce a new type of duel, explain that too. Cardfight Vanguard, Buddyfight, and Duel Masters all did this with their games as well, and funny enough, each one of these had a tutorial duel early on so audiences who never played the game before wouldn't be confused. This, on the other hand, doesn't tell you anything about how evolution works, why you can't just evolve monsters on your first turn, what that number on the corner of the card means or anything of the sort. Probably the biggest load of BS in the first duel, especially, is how the main character reacts to his opponent's evolution as if he's never seen it in action before, yet his opponent proceeds to tell him that he's out of evolution points, which, considering he went second, implies that he's already performed three evolutions up to that point. Seriously, what? If anything, I feel like the best way to acquaint yourself with Shadowverse is to play Champion's Battle. It gives you two tutorial duels to let you know how to play it and, while the story is still nothing special, it's still told better than that of the anime and the characters, while still generic, come off as more likable here.
Um, no it hasn't? Have you been living under a rock? It got a new series last year. Just because you're too far out of the loop doesn't mean you get to misinform people like this.
The producer of the Shadowverse anime: (gets drunk with beer) Ok so here’s what we are going to for the Shadowverse anime. Will start of with the main character. Let’s give him that generic red and black hair with no other interesting features, make his personality dull and annoying and make him say “SHADOWVERSE IS THE BEST”, 8 million times and a backstory that will lead to absolutely no where. Oh we also make the other characters with one trope and no other substance, story that is bland as white bread, make each monster have terrible cgi, unnecessary pacing in fight scenes, uninteresting gameplay, all cards are digital and using your fucking phone as a fucking duel disk. Employee of the Shadowverse Anime: You really think any of that is a good idea, I mean come on there is no way that anyone would ev.. Director of the Shadowverse Anime: That’s a genius idea. You my friend deserve a raise. Employee of the Shadowverse: That’s it, I’m done with this fucking company and this stupid anime. Where’s is the nearest Bushiroad building, I rather work on their girl band anime than this fucking piece of shit of an anime.
I honestly saw the first episode of shadowverse to see what the hype was and got pissed that so much of the duels were offscreen and just stopped watching.
All Yugioh series are not created equal. Out of the four series I watched. The original and 5DS series were great. GX was created for immature children leaning too heavily on the concept of everything being unfair. The series which has the white duel spirit following them around is so bad I only watched four episodes and was ready to stop watching after two though I was trying to give the series a chance.
Shadowverse is actually good because the standards on cardgames animes are really low. I watched the first episodes and I enjoyed it! If you want a BAD anime watch the first episodes of vanguard, that was a painful experience. Also, wixoss made a good job but they never explain to you how to properly play the game, is more story-focused.
Ok what? I am sorry but this is just a lie. Cardfight Vanguard is way better than the Shadowverse anime for a lot of reasons. Like the main character in the Shadowverse anime suck ass as he never fuck loses unlike the Cardfight Vanguard in fact their first episode is way better. I am sorry but the Shadowverse is just bad in terms of story and characters although it is getting a little better with the latest episodes.
@@royalhistorian5109 As far as I remember the first episodes of vanguard were they telling you to buy new packs and new cards again and again. Maybe I'm mistaken since I watched this so much time ago. And most of these animes never talk about BUYING products. They just get the cards for free from somewhere else.
@@racplaysrushduel That kind of the point! Cardfight Vanguard in the first season (original) was more realistic which is why many people love the first season as it was more grounded then the likes of Yugioh.
I don't think that Sevens is bad, but it's definitely the least Yu-gi-oh, Yu-gi-oh has ever been. That being said I think it would have been really successful if it was its own standalone series, but the Yu-Gi-Oh franchise is so often associated with Big stakes and *we have to save the world* type stories that now that it's kind of just a basic sitcom doesn't really feel like Yu-gi-oh. That being said, it's a pretty decent sitcom.
@Diego Rivilli I feel like that was the idea though. Simplify it in order to introduce it to a new generation. As awesome as duels were, one episode in vrain effectively amounted to 2 combos and one boss monster. There really was just too much going on for my smooth brain to handle. Also the characters are meant to be basic. Firstly so any random kid can change to that channel and immediately get what their quirk is. Secondly because the characters themselves are elementary school students. That's just my take on it anyway. I personally don't mind not having the 20th "An 10 billion year old eldritch god is going to destroy the multiverse story." While they all had their own specific details, for the most part they're starting to blend together to be honest.
@Diego Rivilli TLDR I'm trying to go for a more comedic tone to appeal to a new audience. While it sucks if you're an old time fan, the literal only thing corporate sees is that Vrains numbers are noticeably smaller than the numbers before it so they decided to try something different.
Not to be thay guy, but if you've only watch 2 card game anime, you can't really say it's the worst card game anime, even if some of your arguments are true.

Have you checked out Card fight! Vanguard yet? It’s actually a lot of fun, and my favorite besides the King Games’ Yu-Gi-Oh!
Everyone thinks different i mean suppose if shadowverse came before yu gi oh then you woul have said same for yu gi oh too right i am not offending anyone's opinion but i have played both card game but Shadowverse game has more diversity of possibilities i mean you can play ridiculously strong cards easily and use its effect but in shadowverse you can play legendary follower easily but you have to fullfill its requirement to fully use its ability
Do you not like plots?
This is not a shadowverse anime,
This is watching a person playing shadowverse.
They should of let the Leaders be the protagonist(Luna), league of legend is doing it right(jynx),
I really loved the Shadowverse anime!
Well.
Shadowverse Anime: haha SHADOBA TANOSHII
Actual Shadowverse main story: pack your stuff bois and gals, we have gods to reject and world to save. a bunch of world to save.
who knows, maybe the Sorrowful Seven and the former vessel may show up in the show's world.
...now if only the switch game had the Sorrowful Seven as leaders.
@@Argroh they did, but they were under used. Arisa has been done dirty, Erika was fine, Isabel was great, Rowen was fine, Luna was fine, Urias has been done dirty, Eris was great and Yuwan doesn't exist.
Lucky they aren't the real sorrowful seven other wise I would have riot
I Do Not Agree
The switch game is ducking dope tho
It's not even every card game anime, it's every kids show lol
I just tried to watch this, it was so unbearable after like two episodes for me.
It's just an anime to sell toys/games.
Honestly the anime SLAPS. I love it tho the first few episodes are slow
I dont like the game plot or characters, BUT I dont see why they couldn't do both a kids anime and a more adult anime with the games featured characters
i live this series and i disagree. the duels are interesting and the digifriends in s2 are the cutest.
(Gees I wonder why?)
Firstly, it only really has two full length episodes, ep 0 and 9.
I also made the mistake of watching Zenonzard. It's probably the worst thing i have ever seen.
I liked the game so much too. Too bad it got shut down.
Ever heard of dual masters its literally canceled in the west
I miss Duelmasters... SO BAD...
Secondly there is littrely no abilities in weak cards in yugioh and its play point system just go on and on theres no end
i just watched some random dialog during duels and its just empty textbook cliches, i dont usually use the word cliches when discribing anime since you gotta draw inspiration from something but shadowerse literally feels like when you copy someones homework without having any idea what is it that you are copying
the writing feels like it was written by someone with ZERO writing experience
Guess if they do "Spice things up" for the dub, it would make it a bit more entertaining.
Are you for real?
This anime was so bad that it came to a surprise that the sequel was actually pretty good in terms of explaining the game despite it being a sequel.
Wait a second I just realized that grandpa looks like yohs grandpa from shamn king
Glad to have you back

I love the card game it’s got really unique mechanics but I also think the anime universe is good as well. It’s a school life game series with supernatural elements, driven by a pretty decent cast of seventh flame members. There are far worse card game anime out there. Battle spirits is way lower than this for me. Mix master? Dinosaur king? Gag.
Vanguard is a good card game anime imo
Edit: The original and g era are good.
@@LK-em2ly i didnt say it was trash and i also said i think it was decent. And u grew liking the game cuz v series obviously thats why u like it. Im a fan of shadowverse and cygames as a whole, i play the main card game, love the switch game, love the story mode visual novel of the main game (which is pretty good in quality and story) and i must say, this anime truly is the worst. Many people in the fandom are annoyed because the actual shadowverse lore (the story mode) wasnt used here, we were hoping for it to try to adaptate the story, at least a bit of it since we have more than 200 chapters, and instead we got this cliche and boring anime that cant even explain the main plot well
I honestly found the Bakugan anime also way more interesting in the first few episodes than this anime.
Is it worse then vangaurd overdress?
Nah at least with overdress you have character development and a multi layered story, but lacks animations in fights because of that. The shadowverse anime is the complete opposite of that.
Dude have you seen Zenonzard? That shit is even worse, it had nothing to do with the game.
Tho tbf the game already got shut down.
Maybe you should watch Cardfight!! Vanguard and Futurecard Buddyfight and say how it's so God damn better than Yu-Gi-Oh and Shadowverse
Shadowverse Flame at least is a little better than the first anime...
Funny thing is.... they based the switch game off of this amime and I loved it. Why? Because it was done better.
But yeah Shadowverse anime kinda weak and bizarre considering the game is totally different in world and demographic
i think its not that bad
Shadoba is not Tanoshi
and that's how it works
vanguard zero waste potential app keep crashing.
It is not a bad anime I like it and you shouldn't say that
If anything, the worst thing about Shadowverse is that it commits the biggest mortal sin an anime based on a card game could possibly commit, it doesn't explain anything.
It gives you two tutorial duels to let you know how to play it and, while the story is still nothing special, it's still told better than that of the anime and the characters, while still generic, come off as more likable here.
it got a sequel
Card Game shows are advertisements by nature. That's why yugioh stopped going.
Every character not having substance is hilarious
That's literally what happened with Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V except the employee went to animate Fate/Grand Order lol
build divide was good card game
It borrows mainly from mtg
Switch game's out.
The game overall better
No its not that bad and by the end of the show it became very mature. Also animation is great.

This anime is garbage. The Switch game Shadowverse Champion's Battle is way better in my opinion.
It has potential too bad it was ruined by all the laziness and inconsistent writing.

Vanguard is not that bad especially since it has better characters.
OG Vanguard is good
Reboot Vanguard is mediocre
ngl shadowverse anime is pretty damn bad
but its still a better yugioh spinoff than yugioh sevens

i wish youtube showed dislikes
Nah, sevens is worse
While it sucks if you're an old time fan, the literal only thing corporate sees is that Vrains numbers are noticeably smaller than the numbers before it so they decided to try something different.
we get it the art style is doo doo seriously the studio should've stick with buddyfight. Stupid I know but I just miss buddyfight
