Nice video! The cab forwards were actually oil fired. That's how they had the tender behind the locomotive!
Oh gotcha, I did not know that
When Southern Pacific Cab Forward still exist in the California State Railroad Museum has it.
3:32 The SP Cab forwards used oil because it was impossible to shovel coal in it and, even if you could shovel coal into it, it wouldn't be even enough to power the whitsle
5:20 That is the Nathan Air-Horn Kinda similar to SP 4449s because SP used air horns on their steam locos alot
I love that AC12
Because that train is strong and fast
8:51 there is one at the California state railroad museum, in Sacramento.
I always thought it was interesting how almost all of the railroads the merged into UP had "Pacific" in there name.
I feel like that was meant to be honestly.
It was meant to be with the UP and SP. A merger between the two was attempting in the 1900s and broken up due to concerns over it being a monopoly. BTW, the Pacific Fruit Express was a joint SP-UP venture to transport the crops grown in California east with the invention of the refrigerator car.
Nice video, union pacific also had a few strange units, such as the DD35 and GTEL
Yeah they did as well. I feel like they were meant to merge lol
The cab forwards were oil fired so you wouldn’t have to shovel coal. Even if they were coal fired you would just use a conveyor belt to carry it to the firebox
Fun fact: the ac12 cab forward locomotive was an oil burner, so it didn't use coal
I figured that out after I made this video. I should've looked it up before I posted it lol.
They run off bunker c oil same as the u.p. turbine trains. There's one left at the Sacramento train museum. And the deck in between the train and tender is called the monkey deck.
Makes sense. I didn't know that until I posted this video. I always thought they were coal powered.
For me I've always wanted to see this in the Sacramento railroad museum
I believe there is one there.
@@YoAdrian yea the only one in existence I think
@@justin10347 yes forgot the name though lol

You can install Fan Railer’s cab forward mod if you want to.
I honestly forgot about that mod.
Don’t worry, it’s ok
8:52 Only one is left in the world and its #4294
That alert button is the horn button
Ah didn't know that
They where oil fired
Ah thank you!
I love the video and the train I have a question how can you do free drive on train simulator classic
You just have to create a free roam scenario and add drivers to all the consists you want to drive.
@@YoAdrian but I have the 844 and the challenger how do it add those
It's the same way. You'll just create a free roam scenario or easier just use quick drive
@@YoAdrian ok
@@YoAdrian thank you so much bro it worked thanks bro I love your videos
