- When painting your thoughts or follow your thoughts when painting you can calm yourself. In this video I show you an easy calm down exercise, a meditative painting. By expressing yourself through art you can learn about yourself, or find out what is bothering you and help yourself . Self care activities are very useful in times of stress. I show you what bothers me and how I react to it. I also show you how I paint while following my thought patterns and use my painting as art therapy. Art therapy step one is for me just getting of the couch and do something. By using art as therapy I create a constant reminder what art can do for me. Empowerment through art is my of working. I also often use art by other artists to help me learn more about painting and more about myself.

Hi Erna, thanks. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings 🙏
This video REALLY helped this morning. Thank you!
So good to hear D C. Have a good day. Albert
i found myself confined to home, doing therapy only by phone, or computer....i thought about the things i wasn't allowed to do anymore .... and remind myself; that those are things i DID; they were not my identity ... thus i spent almost two years unable to do anything but walk my dog in the morning, all protected ... i never lost myself, and was able to pay this forward to my clients ....i wasn't into painting again, until a few moths ago ...i am glad that You found painting to transcend the darkness, and paid it forward-- great work!
Thanks Don, i was just chipping in what I could give. Albert
One of the things I so love about your videos is that you have opened my eyes and my heart to patterns and colors around me, expanding my world in so many ways. Thank you for that! I will be trying this new exercize . Thank you!
Thanks Marsha, I just love patterns, that's why I show them often. I'm glad to hear you learned to like them too. Albert
Oh, how cool! I wish I'd seen this 2 years ago. I made some art, but it wasn't this much fun! I think I'll paint like this tomorrow, with watercolors. Thank you.

@@ImperfectPaintings I wanted to share a version of this painting I completed! Do you have an instagram?
Hi Rachael, yes it's AlbertvdZwart.
Tanks Albert. This clop was just what I needed. I woke up feeling tired and down. Now, I am heading to my basement where my studio is . I agree a few random color brush strokes should help in these dark moments. Thanks again for inspiring and motivational talk and demonstrations.
Hi Salim, thanks. Enjoy your colors, they can help. Stay safe, Albert
Hi Albert, thank you for sharing your thoughts. In this strange situación art has become so important... Big hug from Spain.
Hi Con Civ, thanks. I have to, otherwise it wouldn't feel right for me. Stay safe, I see all the news about Spain, scary. But from a distance it often looks worse. Bye, Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Hi Albert, it is as scary as it sounds. In my city things are quite calm by the moment. Creativity is a life safer these days and always. Greetings
I hope it will change for the better, not too far into the future. Art can indeed be a life saver when you have to stay indoors. Albert
Albert, thank you for sharing your personal struggle with the craziness. I can tell you I’m having the same challenge. For what it’s worth, watching your videos has been very uplifting for me. And this one was especially helpful. Be well, stay safe, and I wish you internal peace as we journey ahead.
Hi Phil, thank you for sharing your personal thoughts. Good to hear the video could lift you up. Keep up the good spirit, we will get there, Albert
Hi Albert. Thank you for all videos. I have been painting all my life, didnt have any tutor. You are great and you have nice energy. I have one quastion. Can you make video of how to make abstract portrait? I am always afraid to try something new, and I love abstract, but I get confused. Tnx again!
Hi Milica, thanks. Interesting question, abstract portrait. I made a video about cubism with an abstract portrait. And one about the abstract heads of Jawlenski. But I can always look for yet another way. I put it on my list. Bye, Albert
I like the idea - Abstract portrait.thanks for suggesting it
