Paint like Paul Klee paintings: Rosengarten / Rose Garden - Analogous colors scheme

  • The Paul Klee Rose Garden painting is made in 1920. I like it lot because of the colors used, the analogues colors. The Paul Klee paintings often have a similar set of colors also known as an analogues color scheme. It makes it all easier to paint. You could call the Paul Klee Rosengarten painting a cityscape, a combination of a painted landscape and a painted city view. Klee Paul or P Klee paintings are well known. I really love them because they have this childlike thing, they look like painted by a child but Paul Klee painting techniques make the difference. In this Paul Klee art lesson or Paul Klee painting tutorial I show you how to make the Paul Klee painting by yourself.

    I think this is my favorite so far. I see a lot of possibilities for still lifes in this method and the analogous color scheme is so pleasant. This style will make even the most uninteresting objects more interesting because I can focus more on the interaction of the shapes rather than the objects themselves. Thanks so much for this!

    Hi Albert..love your videos but am I missing how you got from your vertical and horizontal lines to all of the interesting shapes you ended up with? Did you use perspective at all? Thx.

    • @ImperfectPaintings
      @ImperfectPaintings  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Mary, interesting question. I checked the video and I forgot to show that piece of the process, my apologies... interesting is that 6.000 people watched and no one asked. I have the idea I first created horizontal and vertical lines and after that changed the regular boxes to irregular ones, using a slightly darker pencil, where the thin first lines were a sort of a 'guideline' to deviate from. You won the price this time for close-observer of the week, LOL. I really appreciate your question, it was fun to discover. Happy painting, it really is a delightful painting exercise, Albert

      Hi Julie, thanks for asking. But my lessons are local, in-real-life lessons. What I teach is what I show in the video but of course there is more interaction in the classroom 😁
      I show their paintings to give you more ideas. It is their interpretation of the exercise, and as you can see, everyone is allowed to take their personal route. I encourage this, otherwise you would get 15x the same flower at the end of the lesson. Boring I guess. But if you happen to be in the Netherlands in fall you are welcome to join. Bye, Albert
