As RVZ and a lot Confederate officers once said "don't let that flag hit the ground" For those that are uninformed RVZ is Ronnie Van Zant of the late great Lynyrd Skynyrd
THIS is when Hank was King. He was at the top of his game with THE hottest band in the land. Brings back a lot of memories seeing Lamar, Vernon, Jerry, and Eddie. I was fortunate to spend about an hour in the old Shoney's parking lot across the street from the Hank Jr museum just shooting the breeze with Vernon once. I cherish that memory. Lamar's guitar was HOT on Mind Your Own Business. I saw so many opening acts for Hank through the years, including Waylon but, my favorite shows were with The Bama Band opening. It set a mood that I can't explain other than saying you knew it was going to be a rockin' show. One of my greatest memories with The Bama Band was in Kalamazoo on the last night of the 91 tour. Courtesy of Merle, I had a backstage pass. What a night. I got to hang out with The Bama Band before, and after, the show. Several of us ended up at the bowling alley across the street. Wayne "Animal" Turner had the high score in bowling with a 59. What does that tell you? *L* We then took over the karaoke in the bowling alley bar. It was madness...and it was fantastic. Needless to say, it blew my mind when I saw them in 2003 in Tuscumbia Alabama and Wayne said "holy shit, I remember you from Kalamazoo". LOL. Love Hank and I love The Bama Band. Thank you for posting this.
Vernon the legend. Actually played fiddle with the Stanley Brothers and CARTER Stanley was the pickiest artist on earth about fiddlers. I met Vernon back in the late 70s I guess when he was working with Jimmy Martin. Got to know him a little as we were playing the same circuit. Nice man. Very quiet offstage. But what an entertainer.
